This one's not really about cooking…

Anyway, name your favourite beer
and how much you can drink of it :)
I'll start with Becks and about 3 Liter
(that's about 6,5 US Pints).

P.S.: The winners will have to meet in
Berlin for a contest some day!

Well, perhaps Germany is both the land of chocolate and land of beer.
But, what is even more important is that Germany is also the land of

hahaha, the first time we were gonna listen to them she [our teacher] was like "These dudes were HUGE in Germany. and you guys are gonna die when you see one of their videos :D". (we almost did.)

if Die Prinzen makes you feel embarrassed, then i shouldn't mention all the other german "artists" we've listened to. :D but i guess you should know that Schnappi was a huge hit here in Sweden (if you already didn't know that), and that many of us (who didn't like that damn crocodile) got embarrassed of it.

I don't think I could choose one favorite beer. For one thing, there are still too many left to try. :D

Old Speckled Hen pops to mind though, if I see that's available I stop looking at the selection and order it. Unless I'm in an ale house type place with hundreds of different beers, trying new ones.

I like a good hefeweizen.. it depends on what I'm in the mood for, really.

A good friend of ours brews beer and is making a documentary about craft brewing (I guess American craft brewing). So we've been hearing a lot from him about beer lately.

By the way, I think Stella Artois was mentioned in this thread, and ever since we heard about Keanu Reeves ordering it in a bar downtown "in that distinctive Keanu Reeves voice" (a friend of ours was there and heard this voice behind him while he was at the bar ordering his drink, he reported that later Keanu was standing on a table trying to get attention), I can't say 'Stella Artois' without doing a Keanu Reeves impression. It's just a funny thing to say Keanu Reeves style. :p "I'll have a Stella Artois" is what he reportedly said in his distinctive way.

I guess about four pints would be my limit, and that doesn't happen very often. I don't like being drunk or hungover, especially at my er, advanced age. I'll sit out the drinking contest but I do like to talk beer.

much once when I was 16. But I've got another drink: Hiller Moorbrand.
It's a local drink from a small village near my hometown Minden where I

Smithwick's and Guinness are my favorites. How much I enjoy the Guinness depends on whether they pour it right though; it's not nearly as good when they don't do it right.

Hefeweizens/Weizenheimers from various breweries are good too.

For cheapies, once in awhile Corona and Miller hit the spot. Despite what some have said here, Miller is definitely much better than Coors or Budweiser. At least that's this beer snob's opinion. And sadly, I've drank enough cheap American beer to know. (y) :p

It breaks down good though bc the bars here consist solely of Singha-shitty Thai beer, Chang-shitty Thai beer, and Heinegen-barely tolerable brewed here beer. Heinegen is the coke a cola of beers no matter what shit splat country I find myself in there it is. It's the international king of swag that knows no borders

Did you get that?

So, if you speak German, can you drink beer like a German?
Oh, I'm sorry, you're from England, so you obviously can ;)
Ja, ich verstehe.

Neulich bin ich nach Dortmund gegangen. Ich habe viel Weissbier getrunken. Es schmeckt unheimlich gut, glaub' ich!

Your German is very good (y)

If you get to Berlin, you'll have to drink Berliner Weiße.
Allthough it really sucks. It's beer with sirup - rasberry
or woodruff (if that's what ist called in english?). Or try
a "Berliner Gedeck" (that's one beer and on Korn)...

Titou, it's time for another beer if the last one was on 31-12
:)

You are right. German doesn't sound nice. But the swearwords are
good, because they sound really harsh.

I visited Amsterdam some years ago (actually it's been 12 years
ago - shit I'm so old). It was really cool. Allthough when we went
there, Holland played soccer vs. England (Liverpool vs. Rotterdam)
in Amsterdam and all those stupid soccerfans had a big fight. First
in the streets and later of course in the hostel we stayed in...

Now, back to beer. What do you drink and how much? :)

(except perhaps in songs, because they sometimes sound cheesy in french)

I'm not only posting this to keep this thread alive or
because this is post #100, but because I forgot to
mention this very nice and cheap beer: BERGADLER
(which could be translated to Mountain-Eagle). It's
from the big German discount-shop "Lidl". Allthough
it's a "Penner-Pils" it tastes very good :D

This is Budweiser (http://www.bottledbeer.co.uk/index.html?beerid=68) and by God I want it. Has anyone ever tried this champagne of beers?
I was in the hospital the week bf last and the lady wielding the white coat told me I might have pnemonia and I was thinking Fuck I'm gonna die and I never went to Amsterdam or had read Budweiser and fed the poor to the best of my ability....All in that order. Thank God she was only trying to sell a chest XRay

I agree to the Czech (the original) Budweiser, the American
version sucks though – not nearly enough original wort (and
that's what getting drunk of beer it's all about) :)

So, I hope you are feeling better now...

I promised Funky Pepp to post my new personal record in beer-drinking. It makes me look like the worst alcoholic ever, but here it is:

On carnival I started to drink at 9 am and I finally had enough at around 10 pm. And I don't remember any time where I didn't have a glass of beer in my hand (but I have to admit I don't remember much, anyway). So I must have had around 20 beers, I guess, mixed with some jagermeister-red bull and vodka-red bull. I don't think I could ever beat that record again...
Things like that can only happen on carnival, the week of alcohol in Germany.:o

Czech Budweiser or budvar as its known in Australia, is undoubtedly the best lager style beer in the world in my opinion. Its a tie for my favourite beer with little creatures pale ale.

And 20 glasses of beer in one day is not that impressive. Unless you are talking pint (568ml) glasses. In which case I think you should be in hospital having your stomach pumped.

Yey, Rockable. Not bad, as it was 0.3l glasses, I guess - and then of
course embiggened with Jägermeister and Vodka. So: "Hut ab!" (y)

I didn't beat my own record last weekend, but at least sticked to it:
3 Liters of beer in 6 hours and 3 of my favourites: Becks, Astra and
Tannenzäpfle :D

Beer isn't flamable. Try to light your grill with a beer.
If you make it, I'll buy you a beer next time you get
to Berlin :D

Depends on what beer you are drinking ;) I only drink beer thats alcoholic enough to set on fire.

I once tried to light a grill with beer when we went to a lake with some
friends. I was a little drunk allready and I suggested to take a little beer
to get the fire started. I poured the whole bottle of beer over the tiniest
spark which had only just ignited. Hihihi - they were all really mad with
me :p Perhaps you could send me a bottle of your beer, for the next BBQ.

Any Czech people here? I was there a couple of months ago and i found 2 beers that i really liked: Staropramen and Kozel, especially the last one, it was some kind of dark beer and it went down like water.
Oh and beer was so cheap there! Three times cheaper than here in Sweden.(y)

not from there, but i do love staropramen. i also like pilsner urquell, but only on draft.

Kozel Dark is great stuff. Kozel premium (ie lager) is a good beer too. Czech beers are great, except perhaps Urquell. Gimme a Czech Budweiser (Budvar, Budvar Budejovicky whatever you wanna call it) anytime over that generic bullshite.

Never had it on tap though? In what way is it different?

I'll tell you what is an overated beer. Tuborg. Very average, and yet people here rate it quite highly.
