He may be a cantankerous old bastard, but he and his band put on one hell of a solid show. (y)

Is he a singer? Not another Robbie Williams I hope.

Seriously. Blistering. I'm not particularly a huge fan, but it's what mr.p wanted to do for his birthday. I'm really glad I went. It was a fucking great performance.

I guess you saw through my pathetic attempt to disguise my envy. I love the man. I admit it. I think I've started two separate threads about him already. They've more than likely been purged, but they did exist, I assure you.

He's one of maybe 3 musical artists in this world that I would use the term "living legend" in reference to. The other two are Ricky Martin and Cher.

You're lucky. I'm jealous. I'm happy for you. I hate you. Happy?

i love the way he hunkers over his piano when he plays, then he busts out his harmonica and lets 'er rip...

seen him alot up here at MSG, Beacon, but my favorite Dylan shows are the minor league baseball tours he does in the summers...

dont know what it is, but he's still got it...

theres a new biography out on him, i think it's title " with no direction home " , might wanna check into it (y) also he has another greatest hits album out  ( i plan on picking both up for christmas.)

either way, i am a huge dylan fan, have been since grade 8. and not just in that " i'm better then you because i listen to dylan " type of way. he's amazing, i hope to get to one of his shows if he tours around here again (y)

yeah, "no direction home" is a great PBS special, narrated by Martin Scorsese...

the soundtrack is Volume 7 of the Bootleg Series....

and his autobiography, "Chronicles; Volume 1 " is worth a read as well...

as far as greatest Hits, these compilations are all the same.

there was Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits Volume II...

then they released "Essential Bob Dylan" and now the new one is called "The Best of Bob Dylan"

the new one has all the hits from the old ones with stuff from "Time Out of Mind" and "Love and Theft"

I have to say something, because I like Bob Dylan more than anybody else on this board and I'm sick to my stomach that somebody (like mickill) thinks they like Dylan more than I.

Hey, I know what.....remember that song Hurricane? Yep. The one about the boxer. It is fucking cool dudes and Bob Dylan wrote it.

I'm getting ready to go see Fiona Apple tonight.....I mean, you know, c'mon checkout the difference between these to performers discography.

It's like comparing Apples to Dylans, hohum.

Oh yeah ms.peachy, between this and your Japan trip and the rest of it, your starting to get on my nerves too. Your having way too much fun lately.

LOL I know I know. Today being Thanksgiving and all, I was giving some thought this morning to everything for which I have to be exceedingly grateful, because life has indeed been really quite good to me especially of late and I really am one damn lucky bitch.

The Dylan thing was especially nice as it was at a smaller, more intimate venue - tonight's the last night of 4 shows at the Brixton Academy, which is a really great place to see anyone. Here's a review of Tuesday night's show; (http://edition.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/11/23/dylan.review/index.html) which I think is pretty accurate - sounds like they played pretty much the same set. The two 'encore' songs were stunning - Like A Rolling Stone was swampy and bluesy and raw, and All Along the Watchtower was just fucking staggeringly powerful. When they had finished that, mr.p said "I sure hope they're done now, because they can't possibly do anything better than that and probably shouldn't try."

mr.peachy's the real damn lucky bitch here, I think. He got the Born To Run Anniversary set for his birthday, he ALSO got to see Dylan and go to Japan, he gets pancakes in the morning, he wouldn't get in trouble for soliciting sex from hookers if ms.peachy were confined to a wheelchair....I mean, the man's obviously got it made.

Well, true. But he works hard for the money. So hard for it, honey.

Saw the old bastard last month. Great show.

A few songs I've been listening to very recently that I hadn't before and that deserves your full attention:

father of night
i am a lonesome hobo
the ballad of frankie lee and judas priest
the man in me

yup

Seen the man twice, both great shows and both occasions for very inebriated, fun-filled road trips. He's my roommate's favourite artist so I'm sure I'll be seeing him again eventually.

I have never seen Dylan do a good live performance. He always blows. He never plays a good venue here. The audiences suck. And it's his fucking home.

I wouldn't see him again unless he came to my house.

Yeah, and I'm jealous too because I decided a long time ago that he must suck in other cities besides Mpls, but then Peachy comes along and bursts my bubble.

Mickill andr Ms. Peachy, please have an affair, it would be really exciting for me, I could live vicariously through you. After all, you two are the only BBMBers officially thanked in my documentary, it's meant to be.

THAT little nugget establishes your Dylan cred? Bah.

I'm fairly sure I'm the biggest Dylan fan on this board, actually.

I occasionally chat with someone that belongs to the same book arts community as Suze Rotolo. I think that should up my cred a bit.

But yeah, a-z is always going on about blessing his heart and all that so I'm sure he probably loves Dylan a little more than anyone here.

And shame on you, Brabs.

I gotta say this post warms my heart. I saw Dylan last fall for the first time on his tour with Willie Nelson, and I concur, he still puts on a hell of a show. I mean, considering he was dripping with sweat after one song and proceeded to play for two hours is impressive in and of itself, but his new fangled rendition of masters of war that i heard is fucking gold. it's like postapocalytic and bob is mad as hell and it was really remarkable.

anyways, cheers to bob dylan!

Would it be OK if maybe we just formed some sort of transatlantic toddler play group together in a year or so instead?

Bob dylan is definetly weird

I used to have a huge crush on his son Jakob back in '97 but I'm grown now...it's all behind me...especially after I laid my eyes on Adrock in the summer of '98... and well the rest is history

You say that like it'd all be so innocent or something. Sure, it starts out with a couple of inconsequential sing-a-longs. Then, before you know it, we're making construction paper unicorns and meeting at the petting zoo every other day.
