i was searching for a old thread i remembered but i guess it must have been purged or someshit
i thought it was started by abcdefz - some general coffee thread, but i remember someone talking about using a french press
do any of you do this? what kind of beans are you into? tell me your coffee routines/rituals
i had 2 people who were getting me 'free' gevalia coffee, which i do enjoy, but im not getting that anymore because im not paying 25 bux for a box of it. i just bought my first pound of coffee from a store - starbucks ground samatra or whatever. i saw a documentary recently about coffee and they were talking about the french press method and i am interested to hear if any of you do this at home.

I am allergic to caffine, and I live in a city where people pratically bath in the shit.
I have heard that the french press is the way to go from all the hip coffee drinkers though.

Ah man, coffee is something buddha/god/ala/mohammed must of invented themselves. I couldn't live without it. EqualExchange Sumatra coffee is my choice of the drug. Clipper do a ground coffee that they call "French Style" but is only on special order so I've never had it, cus I always thought what is so special about the French Style? :p

Holy crap did that make me laugh.
I don't leave myself enough time in the morning to brew fresh coffe or pick some up on the way to work, so when I do have my morning cup of joe it's usually Folgers. Instant. Delicious.

We use a french press. It makes very nice tasting coffee. I think that it one of the more 'unhealthy' ways (supposedly) to drink coffee, as it retains to most oils or something, but if you're not drinking gallons of it then it's no matter. I'm not exactly sure what coffee we use though, because it's mr.p's job to make the coffee and my job to make the pancakes.

I use a French Press for my coffee, and buy Douwe Egberts coarse ground. Not sure what it's actualy called because I bought it in Holland, it's the one in the red pack. Quite a dark roast, about 5-7 minutes before pressing seems to give the best results.

I use a stovetop expresso machine for my daily brew. I used to grind my own coffee but the arrival of kids forced me to cut down on preparation time. I usually drink organic mountain grown coffee from East Timor, but Lavazza or Vittoria is an acceptable substitute.
At cafes I used to drink double shot lattes but the local coffee makers can't make it strong enough, so I've started to go for the short black
