the lakers just missed the playoffs last year. i don't ever remember them memtioning anything about the clippers getting a chance at the playoffs

Ok, just checked. The Clippers finished the 04/05 season with 37 and 45 while the Lakers finished 34 and 48. So, we're talking 3 games here, but still.
