God damn some idiots in the UK celebrate this. I mean, nothing to do with us but evil stores like asda advertise it and people think they must buy more shit they don't need.

So what do you give thanks for anyway? Life?

We give thanks for being richer than most other countries and go out and over buy food of which most will end in the trash because we can't finish it, rather than donating it to a needy family or putting it in the fridge because that's how we roll, son!

I really like Thanksgiving. It's one of the things I actually do miss about living in the US. I think it's rather nice to have a special day for acknowledgeing one's good fortune and being a bit humbled and grateful. I mean obviously that's something that should be done more than one day a year, but it is nice to have one day that is just specifically for that.

I agree it should be about that, but I feel like it's not. Just like pretty much all of our other holidays. My one Christian friend tried to tell me that people celebrated Christmas still because of Jesus, and then I took her to the line outside of Best Buy at 5 AM for the Day After Thanksgiving sale.

I can only responsible for what things are to me, you know? It might not be that way for some other people, but I'm not some other people. I was raised to believe that it's important to recognise that whatever bad things may come my way in life, in the long view of things, I am pretty damn fortunate and that is worth celebrating.

Jesus? Xmas became all about the gifts....oh and does anyone know when this transition happened?

heh, I thought it was a religious holiday. Obviously not.

How did it come about? How did the first thanks giving happen? Do someone just say 'thanks yo' and then some went 'dude, we should make this a day to say thanks yo every year' or something?

When CocaCola invented the Saint Nick white beard and red suit we associate with him now, sometime in the 50's

Everyone knows that nothing Canada does really counts silly....

Anyway I LOVE everything about Thanksgiving; the food, togetherness, and of course football. Although I'm bummed that I'm not with my family this year but still happy

(n) Wayne's roommate bailed on his plans of taking him back to his house near Chicago, so now Wayne's completely alone in this foreign city without even his kitty for company on Thanksgiving. :(
