You half-cut my hands off and with the remaining power of my remaining non-severed nerves, I'll half-cut your hands off, and then we'll take both of our bloody stumps to the emergency room and get a doctor's note for hopefully 3 weeks or so, so we can then have time to do our reports.

It's not about dying, it's about sympathy. For the rest of our college careers, we'd be known as "Stumpy" and...well, I dunno. I guess you'd have to come up with another name, because I'm taking Stumpy.
Anyways, what jerk teacher would give anything less than an A to a girl who worked so hard on her papers her hands fell off? Or got hacked off...whatever, it's a thin line and they don't have to know what really happened.

I remember back in high school, we had a guest-professor from the local community college come and help teach anthropology. He said our papers were due on a certain day, NO MATTER WHAT. If it was a minute late, it was an F. Even if we had a severe accident, we had to get it in on time before they wheeled us away to the emergency room. He said that's what "Real college" is like, so we had to get used to it.
Yeah, right. I'm going to real college now, and teachers are lenient if they realize there's a serious problem. My brother had a stroke his freshman year during finals, he didn't fail. They gave him incompletes and he finished his work that summer. What a douchebag that professor was.

Ha, yeah, he had it when he was 18. He was majoring in environmental engineering and was there on academic scholarship. He was sitting at his computer when his eyes started to do weird shit and he got tunnel vision. He started fading in and out of consciousness and got a pounding headache, so they took him to the E.R. They said he had a one-inch bleed in his brain, from where a blood vessel broke. 18 fuckin' years old.
Needless to say, he changed his major to something a little easier and less demanding - Environmental Science and Policy. He's doing well, has a great job and makes the same salary as most engineers do, so it was a good choice for him. :)

hey there "i'm staying in on a saturday night to write a paper" crowd. i've got 3 due next week, and i'm absolutely amazed at my progress. i've already written one and i'm over halfway through another one. i wrote 6 pages in about 2 hours. that was roughly 3 hours ago, i haven't touched it since, i'm afraid to. i always do this with papers, i'm afraid to look back at them because i'm afraid i'll see that it's terrible and decide i have to rewrite it. the only thing i hate more than writing papers is writing them again. it's sort of like "if i dont go to a doctor i wont get sick". if i dont edit my paper it can't be bad.
oddly enough, this strategy has worked really well for me so far this semester. this paper kind of sucks though. my professor's a real crack-up, check out his guidelines
6. All papers must be stapled. If you do not own a stapler, go and buy one. Owning a stapler is a necessary but not sufficient condition for being a student.
12. Never substitute the word "feel" for "think" or "believe". While doing philosophy, philosophers do not feel anything, they think.

Hahaha, you think. Feel, think, and believe are basically the same thing. You've thought the topic through and come to a general conclusion, which is now what you feel or believe.
Anywho, good going on your process. I usually do that, I don't touch them until a few days later when I'm okay with the whole overhauling and editing process. I just don't like doing it the first day because I've got that "God damn, you're totally awesome," high with just being DONE with it.
Anywho, I wrote out like half of my study guide, and one page for one of my papers. I have so much more to do, but I keep getting distracted. It's my body telling me not to study on Saturday night. I can't help it.

i have news that's actually great: i'm up to 9 pages now, i've almost finished this second paper. this was totally worth being antisocial and not going to the casino with my friends tonight, i've been sweating this paper ever since it was announced. it's worth 40% of my grade, i'm so impressed that i've started it so early.
