Could you break their necks and end their pain if they were hit by a car?

I'm thinking I would take them to the vet but that's just me.

There's usually an after hours emergency vet. Look in the phone book for your city or town.

Possibly. It would depend on the situation. I was in a car with someone who hit a dog once, it was awful. The sounds it was making, oh god, thinking of it now makes me shiver; very long low horrible cries, and the stomach area was ripped open and guts were hanging out, it was just fucking... it sucked. We were out in the middle of nowhere too and this wa back in the days before mobile phones; we didn't know what to do. Thank god another car stopped, and the guy was an off-duty cop with a gun. He told us to go get back into our car and leave and that he'd take care of it, and we heard the shot as we pulled away. That was a really awful day.

We had a Border Collie when I was a kid. It got hit by a car and crew at our pub chucked her in the skip.

When I was older a cat we had got nailed by a car. I was looking at him as he tried to pull himself off the road, and 30 people on a cycle tour came down the road.

why do they need to be hit by a car and in pain in order to break their necks?

Personally I've never had to put an animal down myself, but both my parents have with our family pets. I was always taught that it is wrong to let an animal suffer so if I knew there was no saving my dog I would force myself to do it.

I do have a tip though for people who might have access to a gun to put an animal down. It helps if you keep your eyes open when firing. ;) Once upon a time our neighbor called and asked my mom if she would bring over the pistol and put a cat that they found on thier property out of it's misery. Thier dogs had mangled it. So my mom and I went over there and she sent me inside to play while the adults took care of business. it was a white cat with big blue eyes and he just kept looking at my mom and wailing. so my mom aimed, but with those big baby blues staring at her she closed her eyes when she pulled the trigger....and shot the cat's ear off. Now she really felt bad. She made a few more failed attempts with the eyes closed but missed the cat and so finally she sucked it up and kept her eyes open.

and that's my don't shoot suffering cats with your eyes closed story.

I actually laughed at that.

i'd just drop the animal into a sealed up box and run the car's exhaust in there for 10 mins. that same box later doubles as a casket. dig a hole, drop the box in and you're done.

one of our cats had some sort of costly intestinal infection that would have cost $1500 to fix. my buddy paid $210 to have the ill-fated feline euthanized.

to me, although it was humane -- it was a total waste of money.

i think i would have a mental break down if I or someone else had to kill an animal that was areadly dying...
i would probably just sit near it crying
i would never be able to kill an animal.. even if it was surrfering and was about to die.. even if i saw someone do something like that i would scream and hollar at them

True. Where's the 24 hour vet?

We have one around the corner. I didn't know about it until my black lab/cocker spaniel mix started acting funny. He was caught between the fense and the little rock wall we have in the backyard. We brought him inside and he kept trying to hide under furniture, and ended up knocking things over. So I brought him to the 24 hour vet at 2:00 AM. They said he had brain damage, possibly from hitting his head on the rock wall.

The 24 hour vet was VERY expensive, I bought him some $100 medicine just to ease his pain. We then had to put him to sleep the next day. That'll be a year ago December 23. I still miss him. :(

The 45 cent solution works best. BLAM. End of pain, suffering, etc. And you don't pay 200 dollars for a needle, and you don't have to watch your animal squirm and slowly die. Question is, can you pull the trigger?

can you snap a betta fish's neck? Actually my fish almost died last year...didn't move, didn't breathe

I kept him in a cup and swiveled it around while meditating that night...

next thing I know, I opened my eyes and he was breathing, then I meditated some more and he started flapping his fins, and after a little more meditation he started swimming!!!

I was so happy, and he's still here swimming in his little aquarium

since I brought something to life, does this classify me as a saint??
Nahhhhhh

^ silly. swirling the water in the bowl around created more oxygen in the water for your fish and THATS the most likely reason he came back to life, not the meditation, thought that was very kind. if you change the water in the bowl more often then your fish won't suffocate.

Wicked pooch.

I love how most of our dogs are mongrels. I hate pure breeds, unless they're shaped like a sausage and carry themselves like royalty.

I think for sure I've to do that, but I'm not sure I'll be able to, maybe the car wheel solution works easily...
where I live there are no 24 hours vet, I'm not in a big town...

that's being a responsible pet owner right there. I think maybe you should breathe some more fumes from the hair dye, it can only make you smarter. ;)
