I'll be updating this thread from time to time. This weeks inductee isn't necessarily a douchebag himself....well, not always, but this post makes him sound like a royal one. This could have been any random post by him, really, particularly this (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=1045386&postcount=14761) one from 2 weeks ago which is still burned into my memory.


Anyway, here we go, the douchebag post of the week, from Paul Jones' putting your cd's in alphabetical order thread:

I guess it can take a damn long time (especially if the collection is big), but in the end it's worth it.

When I put stuff in alphabetical order, I feel like I'm indulging in my inner librarian or something like that. ;)

And it just is the easiest way to determine where you put Album X or Album Y. And it's not very hard to maintain at all when it comes to filing new purchases.

To me, there just is no other way.
Upon first reading it, you may not immediately pick up on the utter doucheness of it all, but it's there; the "indirect" references to his vast collection of music, the pretentious douchebag wink...and who has an "innner librarian"? I mean, c'mon. Anyway, there you have it. Go Brett!

Oh I can't remember, twas ages ago. It's still in our house in the US, but it's old now. World's most uncomfortable sofa bed. Unless you like sleeping with a metal bar digging into the small of your back - I'm guessing though that not many people do.

But recently, I've come to realize that some (most?) people who come to places like this (message boards or chat rooms) are here to maybe pass the time while they're bored in their lives, bored at work mostly. Not everyone does this, but I think a lot do. The rub: you maybe won't know about that with a particular person until you invest time in that person.

I might spend significant time each day with someone from the internet and to that person, it might mean nothing other than the passage of time, an exchange of words. It maybe means that that person has to surf for, say, one less hour because they've passed some of that open time with me.

For me, though, spending time with someone--whether it's online, in person, through letter writing, on the phone--that's a piece of myself that I'm giving over and it's a personal thing to me. A sort of investment. However, I'm learning--or rather I have learned, too slowly--that not everyone sees things in that way when they're online. Different for them when it's face to face, but when it's online, it's like there's an entirely new set of play rules.
