View Full Version : MP3s are the most durable music devices, ever.
i got back into my car after leaving the bank, and drove up the hill. the music was still playing, but i heard the sound of something hitting the bottom of my car. i thought it was a rock, so i didn't think much of it. i commented on it, and the rest of my friends in the car heard it too, so i pulled over to check what it was. i opened the door, and there's my MP3 player. the whole back of it was all scratched up, it was dirty, and the rubber covering the USB thing was rough, but other than that, it works perfectly. the music hadn't skipped at all, and i wouldn't have even know unless it hadn't hit the bottom of my car repeatedly. the only thing that sucks, is that if it ever breaks, there's no way that they'll accept the extended warraty on it. i was pretty pissed off for a few minutes.
i still can't believe it didn't skip once, and that it still works perfectly.

im going to be pedantic and point out that mp3's are not devices but file formats.
im sorry, im really bored and avoiding college work.....
i had the exact opposite experience with mine. i dropped it on the floor from about waist height, at the highest, and it wouldn't even boot up.
fortunately they replaced it for free, even though accidents aren't covered under the warranty. thanks, creative! they were even fast about it. that's good customer service, there.
what kind of player is it? mine was a creative zen micro, 5gb. ever since then, i've been using the little plastic armor casing that it came with. it looks a little dorky, but damned if i'm letting it break again.

You can shove a shuffle up your ass and it will still work. And any other properly made solid state memory mp3 player should not skit. Unless it's a 30-60gb iPod which use mini hard drives to store their music and videos. Those cannot take the same abuse as the solid memory ones for obvious reasons.

I've got a zen creative and it crashed once. It's pretty easy to reset but I'm ever so careless with it. It fell down the stairs from the top deck of the bus yesterday. One of these days it's going to bugger up bigtime so I need to find me those plastic thingies.

the player kind are devices.
and i have one of these (http://www.sonystyle.com/intershoproot/eCS/Store/en/imagesProducts/180x180/NWE505BLUE.jpg)
I've been wanting a mp3 jukebox for a long time (i have an old school rio 32mb thing that I stopped using a while ago). So I checked out an iRiver one on ebay and watched it all day but got beat at the last second (went for £160). Then I stumbled across an mp3 jukebox (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5133312.htm) from some random brand that was on "buy it now" for £69 so bought that instead.
I also had a quick google for ebay vouchers and found this site (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=111614&page=1&pp=10) and used one of the codes to save £7 (y)

Fryes (the wal-mart of electronics) had a tiny mp3 player 128 megs for $20 last weekend and of course they were sold out when I got there. I use an philips portable mp3-cd player and it works pretty good. I just cram like 10 full albums on a CDRW- disc and it reads each directory as an album, then you can erase the disc later and rewrite new shit on it. In my ride I have a sony Xplod mp3 deck also, and it works great, it also has an Aux in jack where you can hook up another device... My favorite part about the deck is the sub control, its a must have. My GF got the deck for me for Valentines, I was stoked! Anyways yes I agree mp3s are sweet and dont skip much ever.

This thing (http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=213&subcategory=217&product=115) has started crackling, from being jammed in my pocket. I used to find this with the remote units on a lot of Discmans too; the wiring at the socket wasn't very durable. If I keep the mp3 player in a bag it's fine.
