Next time you come, check out the places where you don't see people with cameras and fanny packs. you'd fit in better ;)
I was also in New York this May. No dismay.

Yeah, give me some insider-knowledge about clubs with good
music and no tourists, or bars with cheeper-than-6$ becks! :D

Chicago is cool, too. Allthough it was 20 years ago, I still remember it was
very fascinating: lake michigan and of course the top of sears tower... (y)

I was driving with a friend not too long ago at night and the skyline was so amazing. He was actually from NY and was amazed that being born and raised here, I wasnt jaded and still thought it was beautiful. I love chicago...and you should all come visit me, Im a great host. ;)

We stayed at the Essex House on our anniversary last year. It was a v. nice room and we had a great view of the park (y)
good times
(usually we go to the Algonquin but we switched it up last year)
I also had to give a presentation for my old job there (presenting my work basically) which I was really nervous about but then went off extremely well. I charmed the pants off our company's clients. Well not literally.
So, good memories of the Essex House.

Not to sound pompus or anything, but I always find these NYC threads amusing, because everyone says things like "Yeah, I went there in '92" or "I was therea for a week in July", whereas 45 minutes and $8 later, I can be there whenever I feel like it.
I have a College friend (actually a friend of my wife), who lived in Buffalo, and moved to Long Island after College, and all she wante to do was go into the city and "see the sights".
It was weird how she was amazed by things I've seen literally hundreds of times.

^^^
It sounds totally pompous but it's true.
NYC is the biggest most spectacular city in the world... but NY'ers might be the same way about going to London, Berlin or some other amazing city...
... nah.

you dont sound pompus at all. Thats how I feel when people come to chicago and want to see the mag mile, or the sears tower...its funny. We're very lucky to live in such cool cities.

Same in Berlin, I've senn our sights for at least a thousand times.
If someone of you guys comes to Berlin, I can give you a real nice
guided sightseeing tour. My husband and me are pros, now...

My boyfriend's in Wicker Park and I might be forced to move there next year if he doesn't find a job around here first. It's gonna be lonely. :(
