is it me, or does everyone have a problem buying a pair of jeans that actually FIT?

I have long legs and a short torso. Finding jeans that are long enough and/or don't go highwater when I sit is almost impossible. I have pretty much accepted the fact that everytime I sit down my jeans will become highwater and my socks will show (which I hate but oh well). Even trying to get my size in "long" almost never works, they never have any. I hate it.

I tried buying size 11 jeans for them to be long enough but then they were SUPER baggy on my waist/butt/upper thighs. They would always fall and I could never find a good belt for them and they were ver unflattering. Now I bought a size 9 and they fit better on top, but there is still enough room on top that I can pull them straight down without having to unbutton or pull down the zipper on the pants. But if I go any smaller, the pants aren't long enough at all! 9 are on the borderline of being highwaters.

Ugh. UGH UGH UGH!

yeah anyway.

you also can't find jeans that don't have that pre worn out look to them unless buy some oddball shit jeans that have a goofy cut to them

I buy really loose jeans that don't fit but are loose so they fit in the loose sense. But since I'm male none of it matters really that much cus most males jeans are made the same since they don't have hips and stuff.

God damn yeah, I hate that. I can make any pair of jeans worn out within a month. Don't need to buy them in that state to. Or with paint on them.

i wouldn't mind the pre worn out look if it didn't look purposely done. but i would definitely prefer to be able to find some ordiary blue jeans that didn't have fade marks or even pre done holes that didn't look like little kids pants.

I have the oposite problem, my legs are short and my torso is long. I have to look for a 30 inch hem or shorter, other wise I'm walking on them. I don't like high wasted jeans but I also don't like really low wasted jeans, so finding one with the right rise is kinda difficult. and then there's the weird faded bloches or holes like Turd said. And why should we pay $50 for a pair of jeans that look like they came from the dumpster. Also, there's the issue of the back pockets, having some stupid design on them or being too big or too small and yeah. just yeah.

I agree, a good pair of jeans is a hard find.

I like my jeans to have medium-sized pockets in the rear, placed evenly, not too close to the center and definitely not too far outwards; they need to have deepish front pockets, ample room in the crotch area (but not so much that they bunch up), a subtle contrast in the stitching, a loose fit (but not overly baggy in the thigh area and not tapered in at the knees). I like a minimal flare (not bells) with a semi-low waist, but not down below my hips or anything fruity. I like them to come down to about the midsole on my shoes and I prefer darker over a lighter wash. Not having rivets is a no no and I prefer a zipper to button fly. No pockets all down the sides or a hammer loop or any other nifty ideas either. I like the idea of two belt loops in the back, but no more than 8 loops total. I don't like the starchy overly crispy look, but I don't like too much wear either. And no holes or frays unless I'm working in them. I'm not that picky, though.

he also insists upon rhinestones that spell out "Mimi" in cursive across the left cheek.

That's just a preference, not something I insist upon. I'm not a diva, man. Jeez.

...want to do yourself a favor?

You can learn how costume designers destress clothes so they look lived-in even though they were purchased yesterday. (See: Indiana Jones' leather jacket, for instance.)

There's a book about the making of The Big Lebowski that goes into some detail about it; basically, it's pretty fun because you get to find all kinds of ways to take new fabric and fuck 'em up -- driving over jeans in gravel, washing clothes with weights in pockets, etc. etc..

You should consult your local department store that sells Seven jeans, Citizens of Humanity, Miss Sixty, A&G, Paper Denim and Cloth, etc. They are all about $150-$200 per pair but they rule. They gave this white chick ass for days. I'm sure you can find one that fits you.

150-200 a pair!?

sorry, but good lord. There is no way in hell I could afford to spend that much money on jeans.

I spend like, 20-30, and anything above 30 hurts my wallet. Even 30 hurts it a little.

Yea, $200 is too much for a pair of jeans. I'll buy the odd pair of Diesel jeans if I can afford them, but usually I draw the line at £40.

Yeah, the first time I bought some I smarted about it for a couple of days. But now I can't go back.

I guess if you're in school and all...

I admire your honesty; the fact that you're suggesting that it would more or less break your bank to spend that much on jeans rather than you trying to say that you "prefer" to not spend so much on jeans like a lot of these little scrotum-munchers are fond of doing.

haha. Well it's true. That is a HUGE chunk of change for me, huge. My budget for clothing is around $150 every 6 MONTHS. I might be able to afford a bit more but I rather save it for my bills and school.

Your parents raised a real smart cookie. Unlike hpdrifter's parents. They were obviously very negligent and unfit to bring their spawn into this world.

ahaha.

and well, I wasn't always responsible about money. When I was living in DC and had medical debt, it kinda went to hell when all of a sudden I had this new bill to pay and I didn't know how to budget for it. So now I know better, mainly because even if I don't along perfect with my parents, my Dad is really good at budgeting money and helped me learn about it when I moved back.

I have been tall all my life so finding jeans long enough is always a problem, and usually if the jeans are long enough, they're too big in the butt area or vice versa. I usually have good luck with jeans that come in tall sizes, and at express I can just get the regular sized ones cuz they run long....I usually have the best luck with jeans at express.

Do you know instead of paying $150+ for jeans I bet you could get some taylor to make some up for you around that price - I'm referring the those who pay a lot to jeans and they'd be perfect.

What might work would be get some jeans that are too big and sit in a bath of water then then can shrink around you.

i have pretty much embargoed any future attempt at buying jeans until i lose half my body weight.
i haven't had a pair of jeans in ooooh.. not this century anyway.
any kind of trousers; i suck at them.
i have one pair of trousers and they are falling to pieces, holes and pins keeping things together and blah. i, too, hate it when you can see your socks when you sit down.
i have long legs but a bit of a booty and child bearing hips. this is not conducive to good trouser-buying. i hate it.
blah. gonna spew in the toilet now!

hmmm express is a little pricey but I don't think it's THAT bad is it? I might want to check it out. Sounds like we have the same exact problem. It's funny though, I'm not even tall, it's just the way my body is proportioned. I have a friend who is at least 4 inches taller than me but my leg height is around the same as hers. Actually, I am not sure about the upper legs but the length of the lower legs for me is longer than hers. Then my torso is squished more than hers, so I am shorter haha.

None of that probably made any sense. But my point is, I will try express!

Ive owned one pair of jeans since the 7th grade
and I hate them
I like the cuffs and i bought em for the cuffs only

jeans are too stiff and thick
why would i want anymore fabric between the world and my ass than necessary
I have tried on many a pair in moments of weakness where I feel its my duty to be a jean-wearer but all they do is glance over and hide one of my favorite asssssets
why hide that shit behind ill fitting fabric that doesnt hug your curves in the best way possible
corduroy is the only way to go
plus its so softy soft
and warmer and jesus christ I hate jeans

What about stretch denim, Heiress? Not formfitting spandex-style jeans that hug every contour of your lower body, but just ones that aren't as stiff.
