View Full Version : remixers - want exposure? i'll promote yr shit...

yo, what's good, everyone? I haven't posted all that much on this board so hopefully yall will excuse me coming out with some seemingly self promotional type shit...but this is really more about yall than it is about me.
Anyway, aside from radio work I run a hip-hop/rap podcast. Currently it's the most popular one on the net - you can check it out at www.mixtapeshow.net (http://www.mixtapeshow.net) . If you don't know what a podcast is, don't stress it - it's basically just a downloadable mixtape show. Shows come out weekly, are freely downloadable, and if you have iTunes you can set up a tivo-style feature that will let you cop the episodes automatically without even having to check for updates - it downloads directly to your computer, ipod, whatever.
So that's where I'm coming from. I've heard some pretty good remixes on this site already, and I'm interested in taking submissions from some of yall for some exposure. I'm sure the label people will have no issue with this since nobody is reselling these shows and they are free to download - it's just a way for the aspiring producers on this board to show off their production skills. The show is fucking blowing up right now so this should be a good look for anyone. Your shit will be going right up next to some major artists - check the site if you don't know what I mean.
So basically, if anyone is interested in getting a lil shine off of their remixing skills, feel free to respond to me in this thread, check out the site and contact me that way, whatever. Pretty much the only requirements here are that 1) I like the track and 2) it's not a straight up bootleg of some fiddy instrumental with "Sabotage" over it. You need to have created an original work.
I don't want to self-promote here any more than absolutely neccessary for heads to understand what I'm offering so if you want the lowdown on the show - past guests, sponsors, etc etc, you can talk to me privately about that. I look forward to hearing some quality joints...thanks.

sooo.. whats the catch? you can probably take anything from my site if you say i made it.
dexdigital

there isn't a catch. you can check any of the older shows on the site - any artist whose work shows up on the site gets credit and at the very least a link to where people can check them out.

not certain that anyone's still checking this thread, but on the off chance...
I've gotten 2 tracks so far that I'm pretty sure I'll use. There are some remixers on here that produce consistently good shit, but I want to spread out the love to some other remixers - I don't wanna feature 3 joints by the same person, yaoming? So I'm looking for maybe three or four more joints by different artists. If you haven't gotten at me with a link to your shit, let me know. I'll be in contact with those who have the good shit.
oh, and as an aside, the show recently got added to iTunes. If you've got iTunes, you can subscribe to the show by clicking here to subscribe to the mixtape show (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=94858567). Odds are you'll probably like it, and when the show featuring artists from the beastieboys.com forums, you'll be the first to get it. And of course if your joint is featured on the show then millions blah blah access blah blah exposure blah blah never run out of cocaine money again etc etc you get the point.
get at me...

thanks for getting at me with these mixes, y'all. i have a couple that i'm pretty sure about already, I've gotten at those people. Anyone else is free to get at me with tracks - but please include a specific track or two (three at very most) for me to look at - don't just point me at some random page and expect me to spend ten minutes sifting through a bunch of random shit.
For those of you who are asking if I take other remixes or other original tracks, no (to the first question) and yes (to the second).
The only reason I'm considering doing the beastie boys remix episode is because they put their acapellas up for public use. I can't use (for example) a Ludacris/whoever remix because dude didn't put his shit up for free. If/when he does, feel free to point me to that acapella and I will consider your remix for another show. Of course, underground artists are fine, as long as you are that artist/have that artist's express permission to distribute that specific track.
And if you listen to the show, you'll know that I do play anything and everything submitted to me, as long as it's good. So feel free to get at me with other works - just let me know what I'm supposed to be looking for.
And of course if this is your first time checking the thread, feel free to check the show in itunes (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=94858567) or check out the main mixtape show site (http://www.mixtapeshow.net) .
As it is right now, I've only got a couple of remixes set and confirmed. I've looked at everything else posted/sent to me, and for one reason or another it's not up to par (some of the submissions are just too hard to find the mp3s on or were a hassle to listen to).
So if you've hesitated on getting at me with some material, don't. I'd actually like to make this show happen, but if I can't get much more quality material, I'm going to have to put it on the back burner until I can actually come up with six or seven hot joints. So if you want in on a show that's getting over a thousand+ downloads a day sans promotion, start grinding...

so.. when is the remixshow?

Joakizmo (and everyone else that has been asking) -
unfortunately, a few things are preventing the project from moving too much further.
The first, and most important, is that I haven't really found a good amount of quality remixes. I could, of course, just go with two or three tracks from each artist, but that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense - I'm trying to get as many different producers/styles represented as possible.
Right now I've got about three to four tracks that are usable and would definitely be included in a show. Everything else, either due to it being a straight rip of another track or being just not good enough (my opinion), has proven pretty much unusable.
Right now the project is on the back burner. I am still working on getting at a few people that should make this project take off, but again, everything depends on the joints that are submitted, and at the moment, I just don't have enough to make a worthwhile episode.
If and when it does go up, I will make sure everyone here knows. In the meantime, if there is anybody with serious skills that has been hiding in the woodwork, now's the time to come out...
check the mixtape show (http://mixtapeshow.net) site for contact/submission info.
