I use acid pro 4.0 to basically combine all the music. To make all the music i use my Akai MPC 1000 along with my bass guitar and M-Audio Mobile Pre. So i come up with a beat and a bass line record it in acid and mix it all up and add effects or what not to it

Hey!

These days you can use a ton of different things. There are tons of cool programs out there at various levels of pricing and functionality. There are also tons of cool midi instruments and gadgets like mpc's groove boxes and other drum machines, samplers and synths to choose from. After years of hardware use I now have a mac based studio primarily using Ableton 5 or Logic Pro 7 as the master program with a bunch of other programs like Reason and hardware devices like an MPC's, groove boxes, turntables and traditional rock instruments like guitar and bass. With a newer mac and a soundcard ($100 and up starting) you can do anything. Check out the M-Audio cards. You can do everything with that program. Hook it up to controllers, program midi drums and synths and sample and edit like crazy. Over time you can add tons of other cool outboard gadgets and plugins too. The sound card will come with a cut down version of Live that's enough to rock it and a cheaper way to buy ableton using the upgrade option. Hit me a message for more info.
Peace,
