"Congratulations on graduating Diana, now find a new house, a new (and higher paying) job, we're gettin' da fuck outta here."

Thanks a lot, you bastards. I've never lived away from them, and this is gonna be really weird. All my other friends moved away from their parents and lived in the dorms, but still saw them every other weekend, holidays, and summers.

I don't get to have those steps. It's going from living with them every day to getting cut off and fending for myself. I can't even go home if I'm feeling homesick and want to see my childhood cat. That's right. They're taking my cats, too.

I dunno, I always knew I was going to move out but I had always expected for them to be around the corner from me if I needed them, until I was fully on my feet and had a career and no money worries (well, no major money worries). But now they're going to be 2 states away, so I can't even visit them on weekends. (n)

Sorry to hear this Diana. You'll be fine, you seem like you half a head on your shoulders. Just know that if you crash and burn, you can always enter a career in professional wrestling.

Yeah, but I'm gonna feel so lost. I mean, a new house, a new job, no safety net, and even more, I may have to move to Chicago if my bf doesn't move back home. It's just weird going from relatively no change for about 22 years (always lived in the same town, with the same people, had the same job for 3 years), to like 3 major changes all within a month. :(

It might seem scary now but trust me it's a good thing. Fly little birdie, be free.

I was planning on Foxy Boxing, actually.

I just moved myself... and at first it does suck but, you'll adjust. Everything happens for a reason. ;)

it'll be a good change. fun, even. your parents will always be there, and you know that if you get too homesick, etc, they'll send you a plane ticket and welcome you with open arms. im sure this is scary for you, but not nearly as scary as it is for your parents. they probably freaked out for a while thinking about leaving you. but now it's their turn to live their lives...

my parents have been preparing me for the inevitable "separation" thing for a while. my dad keeps a calendar with his moving date and keep saying "paulinaaa, you have only 3 more years to get your act together. after that, i cant give you any more money and you gotta start making enough to support meeeee!"

Except I've never been on a plane before either. :( But it's about a 6 hour drive from here...17 from Chicago.

Hopefully they will feel somewhat bad about leaving me. That way if I ever get in a jam, they can wire me extra money to make up for their guilt, which would be pretty sweet.

Aww, thanks. Which reminds me, what are you planning to do with your history degree?

People tell me law school, but I'm sick of school right now. I'm thinking either working at a DC museum (they kick ass, and they're free), teaching, editing, or research.

Teach, actually. I plan on teaching high school for a while, if not as a career, and when I get the chance, continue working towards a PHD and eventually become a prof. I'd love to do some work in Moscow or Krakow, so rich in history those cities...
