i was just explaining to someone that i cant follow things that people read outloud, i have to read them myself, and realized that i really cant understand much if its spoken only. i have to see words written down. like if you were giving me driving directions and you said them out i woudlnt be able to do anything with them.
so now im worndering if i can get the counseling center to give me any perks for being incabeable of digesting spoken teaching. i mean im sure it hinders my learning, sicne i dont really get anything out of going to lectures.
now that i think about it, maybe im just stupid and dont actually have a learning disorder, casue i have trouble understanding chemistry or math when i read about them. its like i stare at the page and nothing goes in.

i dont think im artistic because im not creative at all. and i dont really think im much of a visual leraner. charts and graphs and things dont really do much for me. pictures do, like if i have to put something together, or maps.
i dunno. maybe im just too dumb for college.

No, that's understandable. I've got ADD and it's hard for me in college too, tuning in and out of lectures and not being able to stay on track. Hell, right now I have a 12-pager due on Wednesday and I have 2 pages written. I should probably get on that, but like I said, I'm full o' deficit right now.
Anyways, go to the learning center and get tested. If you got into the college, they obviously believe you're capable enough to do well there. Bad grades and dropouts bring their ratings down, so they wouldn't have taken you if they didn't think you'd be able to do it.

what do i just go and be like "i think i have some kind of learning disorder but im not sure what so give me tests" ?
yeah i'm a terrible payer of attention. i ask people questions and later forget that i asked them and ask them again and the person is like "i already told you" and i dont remember the answer but im usually like "oh yeah" cause i dont want to admit that i have no memory of previously discussing it.

Sure, most universities will offer some sort of learning disabilities center, shoot them over an email and ask them if you can be tested and they'll send you all the information of where you can do it.
I got tested back in elementary school, they said I had ADD (duh) and a slight learning disability, which I think is crap. I was just trying to get a cheap laugh out of the tester. She showed me a picture of bears in the woods and a tour bus going through the woods, looking at the bears. It was obviously some sort of animal-tours ride, but I told her that they had been having a picnic and these bears attacked and mauled one of the campers and everyone's now trying to escape on the bus. And because of shit like that, I have a learning disability.
Whatever, man.

yeah i dont get how LD tests work. i mean, im not STUPID, so i dont see how theyd get me with easy stuff, like whtas that bus doing in the woods. or course i guess maybe its differetn for college students than elemetary students.

It probably is. They tell you to do sequences, forming sentences the way you see fit, reading you scenarios and asking questions (so they see what you heard and pay attention to) and giving you examples and having you pick out the right one. It's just a whole bunch of stuff to see how your brain functions in comparison to "the norm."
It's fun I swear. :o

I know what you're talkin about, like for example if somebody reads me a math word problem I'll have to re-read it or I won't be able to do it. If somebody tells me directions I'll just forget, so the only way I'll understand is if they tell me in steps. Also, I can't concentrate on anything I'm doing unless it's completely quiet (sleeping, reading, homework, writing, talking, thinking...) It's funny because I was trying to tell my mom something and everytime I tried to talk my little brother would say "shut up" and I'd have to start over. I'm not sure if that's a learning disability, can somebody tell me if those are signs of ADD?

My great-grandfather went to hordiculture school in the University of Helsinki, then moved here and became a gardener for some rich whitey in upstate New York.
I hope he robbed him on the side too because that guy was moneybags.

sentence forming is something else im weird about. i think if im writing something that needs to sound good, like for school, i do a good job. and even typing casually like this i do alright. but sometimes my speaking is outright terrible. the other day a guy i know said something wrong, like he left out the word "the" or something, and was like "thanks, your broken english is rubbing off on me" sometimes i'll tend to leave out words or say things in a strange order. and ive been known to substitute words with the complete wrong word. like ask where the microwave is when i mean remote control. or not be able to think of simple common words like camera and have to pantomime or give a definition of what it is. its not bad enough that most people notice it, its just something that happens sometimes. the one guy that said something about it is the only one ive ever had mention it, and he points it out every single time i do it around him.

My mom always calls me "Ev-Ra-Diana" which is a combination of the members of my family. I think that's probably different though.
