View Full Version : So yea I almost got shot.......

well at least not directly......
Story goes like this I figured some would find this funny, scary or just typical G~mile material. I deicded to take the light rail (a mini train for those who dont know) to Downtown Sacramento this past Friday on a mission (get this) to buy a 2pac screen t-shirt (as in with a glossy picture of him on the front). So, for the first time, I rode on the train and getting there was no trouble, in fact my suspicions on the number of "ghetto folk" were confirmed as I saw more diversity on this train then my whole school. I landed in Downtown good and enjoyed the signs (even a funny van with "Stop Gay Marriage" and "Canada and the US are evil like Sodomn and Gorra (something biblical I don't know) parked right in front of the capital). Went into the Downtown Plaza Mall, didnt find the shirt I was looking for, but I picked up a Jerry Rice glossy Tee and a pair of black Rocawear denim' instead.
So here is where the ride gets trippy. First I am stranded downtown with hundreds of people waiting because the train breaks down. Calling everybody just in case I need a ride, but luckly the train started again. This is where shit gets really intense. I am on the train, the back of it, wearing my Malcolm X shirt, reading about 2pac for my Social Psychlogy class (you will see the irony of this later) and all of sudden I hear this loud pop. Woman next to me is like, "oh the breaks must have broke" given the fact we waited 45 minutes prior to boarding the train. In the back of my mind I figured that it wasn't the breaks but something more. So they stop the train, and tell us to get on another one coming 5-7 minutes. I walk off the train and look at the window that was in front of me (the seat I sat directly behind), and see the glass cracked. Now I was thinking it might have been a rock, but frankly who could throw a rock that on point to make a crack that defined? Thats when I thought it and the people yelled it behind me "oh my GOD!Thats a gun shot!". Yes, someone must have fired a shot (had to have been low caliber since the glass didnt break) and it was a stray. I dont think anybody "shot at" the train, so it must have been just a stray bullet.
But yea so I could have been shot if the train moved a second slower or I sat in the seat in front of me and if the gun was strong enough to break the "supposed" bullet proof glass". Didnt really think bout it untill I arrived home and had freinds telling me "it would have been sad" if I had got hit in the head and died. Pretty funny how death can really be just around the corner. Just thought I share that with ya' :)

Really though I thought it was just a rock when I first heard the sound, thus me not jumping like everyone else did...but if I had known what I know now, I would have hit the deck.

the train person said it was, thus the "bullet proof glass" comment....Im going off his word as well as the other hundred people that crowded around it, I took a picture of it but its on my stupid camera phone'..in the back of my mind I thought it was a gun shot when I heard it, but it was more of a joking type of thing. Guess I was right on with that joke. I have heard gun shots before (not being shot at) so I guess I kind of figured that what it was. Plus the strecth of road is pretty barren on the side where we got hit I really don't think there was someone throwing rocks from the grassy knoll'

sure is wild, but even if I had sat in that seat the bullet didnt go through, if anything my hearing would be messed up...but so many variables could have changed that whole sitution....I remember one time I was riding my bike and got the go a head to cross the street, sure enough I see this short bus (the yellow bus) speeding on by....I hop off my bike and start to walk it across, next thing I know the bus doesnt stop at the sign and blows right pass me (bout 2 or so feet from my face)....if I had rode my bike I would have been hit for certain.that right there showed me too (and this was bout last year when it happen) that luck plays a big part in life. I might not be lucky with money, but shit its looking like I'm a damn cat with some of these close calls. Every second does count.

I had a similar experience on the last day of high school. my friend and I were on our way home and took an exit ramp off of a highway and all of a sudden we heard a boom and the back window of his station wagon shattered. ok so maybe it wasnt a bullet....but to get cool macho and gangsta points i am saying that it was a bullet.
Yeah we was rollin' off of 66 in my homepiss' 83 plymouth station wagon and some bitch tried to twist my cap backwards and shit.
glad everything is ok.

being shot is no fun though, my grandfather was shot when my father was in 3rd grade after he got in a fight at some bar, guy pulled out a .45 (this is what HE claims) and shot him right in the stomach. Said it was a painful lesson, he still has the chest/to naval scar of the surgey. They thought (the doctors) he was going to die, thus they brought all his family (my father remembers this) into the room to pay last resepct, but he made it through. Junk like that happens though, you just realize waht happened and continue to beleive what you are doing is right. You dont have to believe that it was, like Jules of Pupl Fiction would say "Divine intervention" but just consider it as another lucky day and maybe your doing something right by staying real to both yourself and others. Thats how I look at it. And if anything this doens't give me street cred, but it does seperates me from the wanna-be suburban kids that much more.

Went into the Downtown Plaza Mall
bwa hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
...glad you're okay, though.
Where exactly downtown did this happen? Please tell me what stops it was between. I know I picture it around.... is 13th Street or so where it's elevated near that abandoned factory? And then it runs on up to 23rd Street stop, I think, or 28th? That was near one of my apartments, man. 2616 S Street or something like that. Light green trashy little duplex, but it was home for a time.
....glad you're okay, though. :D

yea of all the places I went there....and it was in Rancho Cordova when it happened...we had just got into that city. I didnt go to S street though :( the mall is off I think K or L
My friend in 6th grade's uncle had a bullet in his leg that he never had removed because it wasn't causing any damage.
Also, on the radio the other day (so its gotta be true) this guy was talking about how he got shot in the head and survived. There were so many pellets (or whathaveyou) from the blast that they couldn't remove them all. Instead they slowly seep out through his skin over the years.
since you were talking about people being shot and what not.

every second matters! i dont even question it anymore when i get this feeling of...............what would you call it................hesitation, i guess thats the best word for it. i just go with it. everything happens for a reason! i remember one time i was getting ready to leave for work and i felt like i was forgetting something so i walked through the house a few times looking around to see if i did forget something (i didnt) i looked at the clock and what do you know now i'm late. so i leave and half way to work i come around this turn (lots of hills and curves you cant see around) and there is this dump truck turned over. the wheels are spinning like crazy. it must have just happened. he didnt make the turn and ran into the railling of the bridge. he died at the scene. i could have been right behind him. and with being late i would have been riding his ass. i would have ran right into him or the side of the mountain. there would have been no where else to go! scared the shit out of me! i try not to follow to close to people! :o

glad to see you're allright. Getting shot isn't fun. I carry a nasty scar on my left arm due to not being seen by a medic till 3 hours after the it happened.
Shit, the number of times I almost got shot, I don't even remember. I posted about one time before though. I was in an uparmored Suburban and someone shot the driver's side window where I happend to be the driver. There's a huge spiderweb on the window now and if it weren't for bullet proof glass, it would've been right into my head. I'm just glad that shits over with.
