Hugo Chávez's Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) won 114 seats out of 167 on Sunday.

Monitors from the European Union and the Organisation of American States observed no major disturbances.

Now, with a two-thirds majority in the assembly, Mr Chávez can change the constitution at will.

Hmmm sounds like the country is going to be in for a rough ride. How long do you think it will take for us to help out the people like we did in Afganistain?

Exactly what is it you are talking about? One of the more respected and progressive leaders in the world is in trouble because he doesn't like our current administration? Especially after having just won easily. It's this sort of backwards thinking that prevents this country from being able to progress. Maybe you should be more concerned why a highly popular leader in another country is so hostile toward our leaders.

Believe it or not, I'm actually glad to see Chavez do well.

He's a smart guy, despite his misguided ideals.

What he's done with the advertising of his oil sales to the Northeast is great PR.

The fact he sold it at 40% below market value will only lead to lower prices overall.

Also, he'll eventually overreach...as all those who centralize power do...and the backlash will propel him out of power.

Live by the ballot, die by the ballot...as the Sandinistas found out in Nicaragua in the '80's.
