Homer Simpson's angle on relationships:
"The problem in the world today is communication. Too much communication".
As regards my relationship the only deal breaker I can think of is infidelity. Otherwise I'm in it through thick and thin. She did push it recently when she talked of joining the British National Party, but she was winding me up.

There was this cute guy sitting next to me in history, but then that whole idea of him being attractive went away when I saw his nails. They were gross. He chewed them so badly they were UNDER the white part, and he still jammed his stubby little nails into his mouth and tried chewing more off, like he wouldn't be satisfied until he's completely gnawed them off.
That was probably the biggest turn-off EVER. I'd never date someone who had a nail-biting problem that bad. (n)

Nah, talking about a guy who used to like me and thought we were dating even though we only went on a few dates and he was absolutely shocked to find out I didn't want to seriously date him. He then found out I started dating another guy abd still hits on me and thinks it'll go somewhere and he asked me why NOT him. He was and is completely stunned that I wasn't attracted to him and didn't want to date him. It's several things, but in large part, his arrogance. (n)

For relationships with guys, the stereotypical male. So many guys buy into it. Oh and excessive nerdiness. As well as dishonesty, inconsideration and infidelity.
For friendships with girls, the stereotypical girl. And any girl that thinks Dane Cook is funny and/or cute.

horrible BO, unsightly ugliness.
i don't believe that the two above would've ever lead to a relationship to begin with, so there wouldn't be a deal to break...
once in relationship, what would actually have me kick him to the curb without looking back (nor taking him back) would be:
cheating, physical or emotional abuse, drug use aside from the marijuana, priority change where he no longer wanted or cared to work on our relationship
deal breakers for a friendship:
betrayal, boring times with nothing in common, unsupportive/self-absorbed

Fussy eaters
Why fussy eaters? I know it limits the places to go out and eat, but it really shouldn't be held against them. At least most of them.
Does it annoy anyone hearing couples looking at each others cell phone and reading miss calls, text messages, dialed numbers and such? I dislike that a lot.
QueenAdrock
12-19-2006, 12:35 PM
I'd say fussy eaters because I love just saying "Let's go get this" and them saying okay. I hate having to deal with fussy eaters and have to take that into consideration when I go to the store or go out to eat.
Plus, I likes me a man who can eat. It's only held against them in the dating world, where I can be as specific and picky as I want to be. :p

- excessive drug use, definitely a deal breaker
- racism
- closed mindness/unwilling to try, listen to, etc new things
- someone who doesn't like the Beatles (how much you like them doesn't matter, but NOT liking them at all? wtf? are you insane? they are amazing. whatever), and someone who doesn't like the Beastie Boys ahaha
- generally mean, jealous, and/or negative spirited
- those who take themselves and life FAR too seriously (learn to laugh sometimes, yo), which goes in hand with a lack of humor
- republican :)
- extreme religious beliefs
- unwilling to be adventurous in bed (just sayin)
- drives an extremely large SUV or truck just for looks (in San Diego, haaa that's a lot of men)
- doesn't want to play video games with me
- doesn't want to watch zombie movies with me
- doesn't want to go to shows with me

At this point in my life, yes. Because I want to travel with my boyfriend for a while before I get married and that just won't work out with a guy with kids. Maybe if it was later on in my life.

does anyone just keep new acquaintances a bit distant to properly judge how you feel about them?
i do, and apparently its a bit intimidating, but it has worked astonishingly well for my whole life.
especially for girls...
i just wait for a couple encounters and see if i appreciate the person or not.
but i play off people and can usually out-do whatever they are doing
if they are arrogant, i one-up them, if they are racist, i slag their race, if they have annoying habits, i tell them that's annoying... i dunno, honesty is the best policy.
the keepers are those that get it and have a sense of humour.
works very well.
are people with kids deal breakers to ya'll? I'm kinda on the fence with this one.
for me, yeah. you can't have a relationship with a parent without also having one with the kid (at least you certainly shouldn't, it wouldn't be fair to the kid), and i'm definitely not mature enough for that.
true story, i nearly fooled around with a girl who ended up being a single mother (i didn't know that at the time). i have such luck. oh well, at least striking out worked in my favor for once
for me, yeah. you can't have a relationship with a parent without also having one with the kid
i have never met the b/f's daughter. she lives 2000 miles away and he sees her when he goes home, but she's never been available for me to meet when i've visited. weird since we've known each other for over 4 years now...
well i mean, i guess it's different if they're not living together. i was thinking more like, a single parent, raising a kid on their own kind of thing

Ok, I'm a total nerd, but I've been thinking about this one. I've thought a lot in the last few years of singleness about the minimum criteria for a guy I'd be interested in. I've worked hard to understand that I can't ever fix the big intolerable stuff (like cheating and lying.) But there are two things that used to be dealbreaker but now I could overlook if we could work on them together. Seriously.
