This is possibly one of the worst labels in the underground. They're a bunch of gangster nerds who don't know to rap. I like Mr. Lif though.

Eh, they've got some good artists.
Lif, El-P, RJD2... Cage isn't bad. Murs is OK too I guess.
But the rest are pretty wack.

RJD2 is very nice. I can't stand Cannibal Ox. Vast Aire's voice is horrible.

RJD2 is nice and the MURS 3:16 album was good. Overall though, I was never really feeling def jux.

Yeah, Murs is just about the only artist I like off that label.

Aesop Rock, Lif and Can Ox. the rest are gahbage. Murs is alright, but El P is a breast.

Murs is fucking terrible.
El-P is pretentious but hes a good producer.

El-P's strengths have never been as a rapper. And his beats range from incredible to terrible. That extra extra offbeat shit he does where it's like a kick drum arrhythmically pounding all overr the place is like anti-music. But when he's on point, he's untouchable.
Yes, Murs is weak, Aesop is corny and has a really stupid voice and C Rayz is like the underground version of Xzibit or Obie Trice: just average. Cage is good, and Hells Winter had some ill production, but he's nowhere near my favorite emcee or anything. Can Ox...Iron Galaxy is probably one of the best songs of the last 10 years, but them as a group, I could take them or leave them. Mr Lif is a cornball, sorry. I really don't know how anybody takes him or Murs seriously. I haven't heard enough of the second-stringers, and I might not get around to doing that.
RJD2 is quality, Rob Sonic makes some good beats...whatever though, long story short, they're far from the worst label on the underground, anyway.

Mr. Lif is DOPE!
oh, Hangar 18 are pretty good!
i kinda agree bout El. Sometimes he's unlistenable, other times he's amazing.
and Cage is the man.

Some dude used to make us sit through that Instrumental Hospital Co Flow album.
But most of Funcrusherplus makes up for anything El-P could, or has, done wrong.
Some people would never have like Murs anyway, so I just gotta say that 3:16 9th edition is a must listen at least, caus some people would love that shit.

Mr Lif is as good as Murs. You can take that for whatever it amounts to.
Funcrusher is half amazing and half not so amazing, but I still think it's a classic.
I think I've heard one Hangar 18 song and that'll suffice.

Murs is good, above avergae when compared to the other Underground MC's (as in the one the backpack, wannabe true hip-hop heads like)

nah man, that album is actually suprisingly dope. I dismissed it altogether when it came out, downloaded it one day, never listened until fairly recently, and now it gets pretty constant play.

I'm surprised Rob Sonic has gotten slim to no mention yet on this thread. He makes some ill beats and uses some dope vintage equipment. His rhymes don't make sense most of the time, but it kind of lends itself to the beats, plus it definitely exhibits a unique, personalized style. Worth checking out if you haven't heard it. I've only heard "Telicatessen", and it might very well be his only one, but it's refreshing.
Oh yeah, BTW, I just found out the other day that Mr. Lif was first signed by Grand Royal back in the nineties, never knew that.....pretty cool though.
Lastly, I'll solidify that statement about El-P being either hit or miss. Although there's a lot of unlistenable shit, I still give credit for being experimental, even if it's too experiemental.
