hey gang. just yesterday i came to a deal with a tattoo artist i sorta knew, who runs the best tattoo parlor in adelaide, (2-3 week waiting list- in little old adelaide is impressive) i swapped a personal item of mine for $1000 worth of tattoos. i already have one, a black sun with an eyeball in the middle on my left shoulder, it was done when i was drunk in the worst tattoo parlor in adelaide. i have one design planned for an armband on my left arm which will incorporate the one i got, but i have no idea what else to get. ive got about 2-3 weeks to decide what i want. any ideas? i want one on my right shoulder/arm, to even things out. but thats as far i got.

also who here has tattoos? what are they? do u regret them? and so on and so forth.

a skateboard on the back of my right shoulder. the only thing i regret slightly is that i didn't get a friend to draw it for me.

if i were you, i'd think hard before you put $1000 worth of tats on yourself, cause you'll have to live with them forever. it's no the kind of thing you want to rush.

what i'd like to do is get chinese characaters on my shoulders. the one on my left arm would say "left arm", and the one on the right would say "right arm"

i think it would be funny, even if nobody would ever get the joke, including me, because i don't read chinese

wouldn't it be confusing becuz people looking at you would see the left arm as your right arm and vice versa...?

Well it kinda sounds like you don't really like the black sun with the eye since you said you were drunk and it wasn't a good shop ....so in that case I'd plan a cover up tat. B;ack ithe hardest cover but you could change it if you wanted to pic a desing that had alot of black in it. if the artist is truly talented as you say, then he should be able to come up with some designs to cover it.

Don't be afraid to go with larger designs. small tat's loose thier definition over time and larger peices seem to have better lifespans. I like tattos that flow and follow the cruve and shape of a person's body.

i was thinking about one on my chest saying 'food goes in here!' with an arrow pointing up towards my mouth.

in reply to cookiepuss i do like the one i have, well at least i love the design, twas just the execution that let it down. the guy who did it was some big bikie who looked off his face on meth and hadnt slept for a few days. had i been sober i would have thought twice. he used shitty ink, and blurred some of the outlines. but, no regrets. i have no doubt brad from ink pit will do it justice. ive been surfing the net for designs but cant see anything that grabs me. i dont even know what sort, be it celtic, tribal, old school, bio mechanical, a picture, or what. im sure it will come to me. not looking forward to the pain, thats fo sho!

I'm quite happy with all of mine, although the one on my shoulder could do with a bit of a 'touch up' as it's starting to fade a bit and lose definition. (That's the price of not using enough sunblock I suppose.) So I might get that one spiffied up a bit, but other than that I don't think I'd get any more.

i think tattoos are extraordinarily awful. i did consider getting one once but i'm glad i didn't. i really don't think the tattoo thing has caught on in britain; it seems to be pretty big in america. i just think it looks so ugly... on both men and women.

this (http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=25957767&imageID=322144563&Mytoken=F66EE41A-5692-13AC-59D314D08C4BD62557412667) for example.

an old one armed bandit poker machine. im a poker machine tech, and stumbled upon them in someones back shed. i sold one to a mate, and kept the other one. it was a novelty at first but it was just taking up room, and this guy was gagging for one, he called me santa when i dropped it off to him :)

 I dunno bout that; I seem to see plenty of people, women and men, with loads of them around my way. I mean, within walking distance of my flat, there are at least 4 tattoo places that I know of; plus, have you ever been to Camden Town?

I think whther they look nice or not depends on the tattoo and on the person. I mean, if you're already butt ugly, a tattoo isn't going to help, you know? But sometimes, on some people, they are dead sexy.

I think it's gonna be pretty funny in 50 or 60 years when all these 70 year old women have tattoos of butterflies or the word "hottie" on the small of their backs and old men are running around with wrinkled nondescript bands around their 10 inch biceps.

Somebody I know was such a big fan of Avril Lavigne at one point he got the Avril Lavigne star on his wrist. Now he hates her and no only does it look fantabulously gay but he's stuck with it for the rest of his life.

I plan on getting a triforce somewhere on my body.

yes, i used to live there. i've lived in london for about 20 years :)

i know there are quite a few tattoo parlours around, but i mean that the serious craze for tattoos hasn't caught on here. i'm talking suicide girl-type thing when they get their whole chest, arms and legs done.

...and i think camden does tend to attract gothy tattoo-ey types.

Wow that's cool....this whole scenario makes for a great story to tell. Anyway I wish I could offer better advice. As a rule I force myself to want something for at least a year before I get it tattooed on me so you may want to think this thing through.
