we didn't have internet at work. They put spyware on the computer and I got caught playing solitaire and other stupid computer games (for like 15 minutes every morning) along with a bunch of other people (some of whom played for 2 hours at a time). I was also changing the time clock when people didn't clock in or when I would forget to clock in and they got really angry, even though I was just doing it to make the whole process more streamlined instead of writing notes and people getting pissed because they weren't getting paid and yadda yadda. and then the boss's son made up a bunch of other crap and exaggerated things and gave me a letter of suspension cutting me down to working one day a week, saying in two weeks I could come back if I decided I was going to "give it my all".

anyway, the whole thing was just really wrong and insulting and I got super pissed and told him he was a ridiculous person and "fuck this, I'm done". this was the weekend before I was leaving for thanksgiving vacation and they agreed to still pay me for my vacation days. he said, "no one else would pay you to leave!" and I said "no one else would ask me to leave!"

I hated that place anyway, it was fucked up and stupid and stressful and run by a couple of money hungry idiots. I just miss my coworkers. My new ones seem pretty cool so far though.

custom framing again, but working with and for people who respect design and craftsmanship. also, there's no commission, so there's no competition, everyone just works together to make nice stuff. although that means less money overall, at least during my "probationary period". Two days after I dropped off my resume, I got hired over the phone, so they have to make sure I'm not full of shit before they pay me more.

Haha sorry I like freaked out, cause I met her! When she was at Sundance, we were both waiting in line at the pizza place for the bathroom. She was so nice, she gave me tickets to a screening of her film! Unfortunatly, I couldn't go, so I gave the ticket to my parenst - and when I saw that Wasp won the Oscar I was so excited for her!

I'm a film student in the university of utah, I go to Sundance every year! Yeah she was so nice, we had to wait for the bathroom for ever so we just started talking.

This is so random....that's why I freaked out, cause I thought if you were her, that would just be insane.

being in glasgow we don't have very many international film festivals to go to. oh, apart from the edinburgh film festival, of course.
i just graduated this summer and this is my first job. i hope to work on hallam foe (by the director of young adam.. know that film?) next year, fingers crossed.
if you want to do freelance crew work it is hard, very hard. competitive and sometimes gets you down. if you get hired long-term by a production company then inevitably it's a lot easier as you are attached to all their projects. yup!
