so i requested a room change, and the granted it, and then told me that i have to move before i leave for christmas break. and then told me that they dont allow moves during exams. so that means i have tomorrow from when the housing office opens at 9 till 12 when the campus closes for break to get my keys, fill out the paper work, move everything halfway across campus by myself (ps-im moving from a second floor to a third, and neither building has elevators), and check out of my current room.

Find someone nice with an almost empty car that will help you out. Even beg people at the housing office if you have to. There comes a point when people realize they can't be pricks forever... and you just might be the one to help them reach that point.

Get off the computer now and start moving it, so you wont have to worry about that and all the other things tomorrow.
It would be one less thing to worry about.
I should have been a brain surgeon

i CANT. they wont give me keys to the building till tomorrow because there were still exams today and they dont allow people to move during exams.
better a brain surgeon than an english teacher eh?

So you got what you wanted but now you're not sure you want it?
Why are you moving? Crappy roommate? Do you know the new roommates?
How's college?

12-13-2005, 08:37 PM
i got what i wanted, and i want it, its just a pain in the ass they're having me do it tomorrow when campus will only be open till 12 and i cant even get the keys or fill out the forms till 9.
roommate, the crappiest. i dont know who my new roommate is gonna be but i'll take my chances to get away from the current one.
college is going crappy, i failed all my classes but one. oops.

it's a dorm room, how much stuff could you possibly have? let's see...sheets/bedding, books, posters, clothing and computer. itmaybe a pain in the ass, but I doubt it's that difficult

well the worst part is gonna be the computer. full sized tower and monitor, no boxes, to flights of stairs down, three flights of stairs up, at a normal pace a 10 min walk one way

ok i can't beleive I'm going to suggest this...just steal a fucking shopping cart already. you can return it when you finish moving.
p.s. if you look around back of the grocery store, you might find a few boxes you can use.

haha
id have to take a bus to get to the grocery store, and i dont think theyd let me go on the bus with a shopping cart. good suggestion though. ill work it out. ive managed to fit everything so far into one suitecase, one duffel bag, one backpack, and one huge plastic storage bin, and then everything im taking home with me for break im putting in my laundry hamper. oh and a big shopping bag. so theres just taht and the computer. and most of the above mentioned things can be carried all at once, except the storage bin.
its kinda funny, i didnt find out i got accepted till 2 days before move in, and the day before move in my mom made me buy lots of shit i didnt want and now im throwing most of it away. i told her not to buy me things, id rather have the money, but nooooo, she had to get me a set of bowls and plates. i dont need a whole set. i have a glass pot thats bigger than a bowl but small enough for the microwave. i only need the one, i can wash it and resue it. i dont need plates, you can eat anything out of my glass pot. anything can be eaten out of a bowl-type container. only certain foods can be eaten off plates. she's so impracticle.

when i moved in, i had the help of three other people. i also didnt have a computer. i also did have a car.
shes an huge gross nasty fat redneck slut. all she does is smoke and fuck and listen to country. shes at least 250 and she walks around in a thong thats too small and cuts into her sides. she has a boyfriend in new jersey and shes slept with two other guys this semester, and ok, like the other night she was on the phone with her boyfriend till 6am talking in terrible graphic disturbing detail about various sexual experiences. and i cant sleep when shes on the phone cause her voice drives me insane. and i cant sleep when shes asleep becasue she snores, and she always keeps the heat on full blast and her stupid friends are always over drinking in our room and being loud and obnoxious. and shes a slob.

I think the main thing you need is more friends at college. You really need to make an effort to get along with your next roommate...because it sounds like you are living a very anti-social life when you seem like a really cool gal.

well i will be able to get along with my new roommate if she doesnt totally suck and make me wish she'd choke in her sleep and die. sorry, im hostile towards her.
i dunno, i just cant really make friends. i dont really fit in anywhere. it seems like all anyone does is drink. i despise drinking and smoking, so i dont fit in with that crowd. i dont fit in with the huge very religious crowd because im not at all. nor with hippies or athletic outdoorsy people.
theres nobody for rachael *sniff* :(

Do you despise drinking so much you can't be around drunk people? If so we could never hang out together :p

Yeah, i've found you really need to at least be able to tolerate others drinking if you want to make friends in university.

INH: I wish you the best of luck. Take the next couple of weeks before classes begin again and take stock of yourself. Rancid Beasties was right that you need to make some more friends -- female if possible. Swallowing hard and getting along with the next roommate is a good way to start.
Also, what's the plan for next semester? You don't belong in college if you're not going to pass your classes. I assume you're spending someone's money for no good reason.
I failed all my classes one quarter when I was in college. During summer break I got my shit together and got all A's the next quarter and made the dean's list. It's possible. Part of my problem was that I had the wrong major and was taking all the wrong classes. Another problem was that I was never sleeping, attending classes, or reading the assignments. I started taking smaller classes, attending all classes, and even sitting in the front row so I had to pay attention. What's your plan? You need a new one.
You seem to have a lot of ruckus. You need less ruckus. I hope the change of dorm helps a bit. :)

yeah ive taken into account all the many reasons i failed miserably this semester and intend to do much better this semester coming up.
im not so sure about the making friends things though. i kinda suck at that. and as for drinking, its hard to tolerate when youve lived 19 years with an alcoholic.

I'm glad you are aware of why you didn't succeed and that you have some kind of plan.
I understand about feeling uncomfortable around drinking. When you live with an alcoholic, you can forget that most people can drink without getting trashed and without horrid mood swings. Most of the people who drink too much in college will outgrow it eventually. For a lot of people, college is a time to try things out and act stupid.
when i was a freshman, i used to get drunk EVERY weekend!
now i still do, only i'm a senior

Fair enough, I can understand that. All the same most people drink, and if you can't even tolerate others drinking let alone drink yourself its going to make you an outsider right from the outset. When it comes to tolerating drunks, all you have to do is know which people become bad/aggressive drunks and which people just use alcohol to help them relax socially.

UPDATE: I wasn't allowed to move into my new room because the folks at the housing office thought it would be discourteous to move in while the chick wasnt there. i dont see what difference it makes. i could have moved in yesterday while she was already gone for break or i could move in as early as possible the first day campus reopens and probably be there before her anyway. i was made to leave my old room anyway so I had to bring everything home. Then I was supposed to check out. They coudlnt find my RA, or get in touch with ANY RA fo my building, and my dad was getting pissed and wanted to leave, and they didnt know what to do, so they took my keys and said I could go. I'll be charged a $50 improper checkout fee. And I dont know how I get my keys for my new room because they kept my form that i was supposed to get my RA to sign and turn in to get my new keys.
im confused and homeless and $50 poorer.

INH, try to figure out what you like about college and put your energy there. What would be an ideal outcome of your college experience? You're bound to make "friends" if you are focused on something.
Also, maybe when the new semester starts, put yourself on an internet limit. Too much time on the boards equals less time to focus on what you want to do.
