i was just curious if anyone knew what the beasties used to record TT5Bs -
i heard that they recorded it in thier new studio, but from the sound of it the record sounds like it was recorded using a bunch of digital shit. i mean i liked the album but it still had that flat sound that alot of digital recordings have.
im just hoping that the next record they do that they incorporate more analog... digital just doesnt have the same audio signature.

i agree with you. I would like them to go back to a rawer sound. I mean, I can't say I don't like a clean sound, shit, Steely Dan is one of my fav. groups and thats about as clean as you get. but TT5b just didnt hit me like the other stuff.

I agree, i like the raw sound
I also noticed that the arangment of the songs were very simple
mca raps 4 lines, mike d raps 4 lines, ad rock raps 4 lines
repeat but in everyone just moves to the left in the order
mix master mike does a scratch routine
they all rap 4 more lines and then the song is completed
the songs don't seem to be very complex at all, very simple
which is how you can tell tt5b was made in two years
unlike hello nasty where they trade off lyrics and the songs are very dense with layers of music
and is which you can tell hello nasty was made in 4 years

pro tools all the way. i know that yauch is quite the devotee. and who wouldnt, when u first play around with the program, its truly amazing. pretty much every album by a major band that comes out is done on protools - its the industry standard.

bah i hate protools. its overrated nonsense.
i'll take an old reel to reel any day over that.
i knew they used protools but what type of gear? like did they use some midi program or some silly computer drum machine?
i dont know, but on a positive note some of the scratching mix master mike did sounds like he might have been using that program "finalscratch" which i thought did a good job of showing how great that program can be though. thats probably the only music program i think is worth a damn.

Midizi, you don't have a link or any knowledge of an interview with Adrock around TT5B's release where he talked about the making of TT5B? I remeber reading and printing it off a website link someone put up here.
I remember thinking it was a good one. The only question i remember though regarded TT5B being like a full circle from Licensed, which Adrock disagreed with.
Sorry I know it's a long shot but figured you'd maybe have more of an idea than anyone else.

thanks for all the links, interesting stuff to read. i'm glad to hear that with the next record they're going to mix it up and use a mix of analog and digital more leaning towards analog. im not a purist but sometimes you can just hear it in the recording mix when more digi stuff has been used then analog. different audio signatures and shit like that.
