Well, as it gets closer to the holidays and all, it's hard to get my students to do any real work, so today I've been putting together this little holiday 'webquest' kind of thing, and trying to find some sciencey-bits that related to holiday traditions and so on.

So I thought, hmmm, what about mistletoe. let's see if there's any good science stuff in that. And lo and behold there is, which is nice. But I learned soemthing I didn't know before myself, which is that the name 'mistletoe' actually literally means, dung-on-a-twig. How romantic; anyone feel like smoochin' now?
