G, I don't have any 8-tracks, sorry :( I have never seen any in Scandinavia, I think they were more an American thing, we went straight from reel-to-reel to cassettes.

Yes, I put my records all in alphabetical order (and of course chronologically among the individual artists' discography). However, as can be seen with the box sets, those aren't in any particular order. I just have them out like that because I think they look nice. :D

And, funny you should ask, I'm actually working on a list of my records on Word (it's part of my current project of listening to my collection from A-Z, to get my stuff all organized).

I wish I had excel, cause I'd like to list my records by the purchase date as well (I used to write down inside the inner sleever where I bought it and how much I payed for it). I already write down the artist, title, record company, serial code, and also if they're signed, coloured vinyl, picture discs or other special features. Also I've been making a list of the writings between the end of the groove and label.... Nerd, eh?

I used a program a bit ago that would read cd's you insert into your drive, check the cddb info and add them to a database. You can output that list in html which means you can read it in excel if you want.

i just put each one in by hand. i've come accustomed to having to punch in long lists of data over time, so this wasn't anything too difficult. the hardest thing was finding the original release date on some of those albums, they liked to hide it from me...
