What was the worst Christmas gift you ever got ? For me it was in 1983 or 1984. One of my household chores was taking out the garbage and making sure that it was at the curb on collection day.
At the time my bedroom walls were covered with BMX and Freestyle magazine photos from floor to ceiling, That year after all the presents had been opened - my dad told me that there was a special present in the garage waiting for me. He said that it was bright, lightweight and had 2 wheels.
It wasn't the bike I wanted so badly. It was a fucking wheeled plastic garbage can instead. I thought to myself, "That cheap-ass motherfucker !"
My father had plenty of money to buy me any bike I wanted. But told me instead, that it builds more character to help earn it myself - so that I would appreciate it more.
To this day, I'm almost glad that he did that to me. Because the memory of being so dissappointed on Christmas that year will make me fucking laugh out loud - when I ship his ass off to the old folks home. (y)

I was a junior in high school and my sensibilities weren't all that different from what they are now.
My folks got me a sweater with knit duckies on it. Not even adult ducks, like some silly midwestern duck-sweater-wearer might have; I'm talking baby ducks.
It was a pretty shattering, hollowed-out sort of moment, because it confirmed for me once and for all that either my parents just didn't know me at all or they desperately, desperately wished I were someone else.

My grandma has a habit of wrapping up cups and plates and stuff she find around her home and giving it to people.

As a child, one year, we were hurting for cash. I got bunny slippers for Christmas. I kept thinking, "this is a joke, right?" :(
But, I did learn the value of things, so I guess shit worked out.
