Are there no original movies being made anymore?

Everything's a sequel, prequel, remake, biopic, or based on a book.

Are there just no original ideas left?

I'm looking foward to what they do with it: $5 says that the plot has Robin Williams get back with his ex Sally Fields if they can get her to do the movie as well.

That's by far the worst trend - remakes of old shitty TV shows (except of course, the Get Smart one with Steve Carell).

I don't mind a sequel to a decent movie from forever ago, whatever.

I just realized the other day, I was watching Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! And I thought "oh my god....this movie will be remade someday". Same with Big, The Goonies, etc. etc. 10-20 years probably

They should do a sequel to Stand By Me...and just forget the stuff about River Phoenix dying and have his character played by Joaquin.

Cause seriously, what are Wil Wheaton, Jerry O'Connell, and Corey Feldman doing anyway?

Too scary...please make it stop...make it stop!

Why?

They have a love scene and everything...

The only thing missing is the deleted scene with Jack Nicholson joining in for a menage a trois...

Wil Wheaton is looking frightening with those sideburns as of late... Jerry was at the autism fundraiser on The Apprentice and Corey Feldman works at Trader Joe's.

Thanks! :D

Seriously, how dreadful was the original movie? Could you even imagine Robin Williams and Sally Field being married for one second? And why would Pierce Brosnan want her? It was as uncomfortable as my beloved Diane Keaton dating Keanu Reeves. (And how perfect was the Arrested Development variation on Mrs. Doubtfire?)

How can Robin Williams be so beloved? Even on talk shows, he does the same bit everytime. It tells you just how terrific Good Will Hunting was that he didn't completely ruin it for me.

I forgot who was in the movie. Did the main kid really become Wesley Crusher on STNG? Is it the same Jerry from Mariah's epic video where she kicks her own ass? My oh my.

Yes that's my Wil. Oh how I love him. He's made some shitty horror movies, even. We're soul mates.

And I actually L-U-V Mrs. Doubtfire. I'm guessing a large part of that is because I was 10 when it came out. But I've always liked Robin Williams. I don't know about in Real Life (tm) but a lot of his characters always reminded me of my dad.

Come to Tahoe over Xmas. You can see him skiing at Alpine Meadows and wandering around Tahoe City in Real Life (tm).

I might not have a problem with Robin Williams as a person. He seems like an okay person. I can't stand him on a professional level. I never could -- since the moment he appeared on Happy Days as Mork. People have always been doubled over with laughter when he's on, and his appeal has always escaped me. But what I hate most is the serious he movies where he laughs and cries at the same time.

I have no problem with Chevy Chase even though I'm sure he's a huge ass and he's made tons of dreadful movies. But I loved him as a teenager so he gets a pass.

Everyone has some famous actor they hate with a fiery passion, however irrational. I have a friend who hoped that Bob Hope would die every year because she hated his holiday specials so much. But he actually made some great movies a long time ago.

Big fan of his but he's made some crap movies.

It all fell into place when I read an interview in which he stated that he wanted to make movies his kids would enjoy when they were growing up. That's about the time he made flubber and a ton of other silly movies.

Now they are a bit older and cue him playing serial killers and showing that he can act.

In my opinion anyway.

Either way, his broadway stand up thing cracks me up every time.
