Every year, my & mr.p's main 'social circle' all try to get together for a big boozy festive pre-holiday lunch. Those with kids book a sitter or send them off to grandma's for the night, and everyone gets a bit dressed for the event. We meet at the restaurant around noon for bloody marys, then have a big meal, plow our way through a dozen bottles of wine over the course of a few hours, generally then move on to a nice hotel bar, enjoy a few cocktails, then maybe a few more cocktails, then decide we're all hungry again and go get pizza, and drink more wine, then hit a pub for a last drink or two. Each year we spend way too much money and talk a load of bollocks about how next year we should be more restrained but of course we never do, because it's a fabulous time.

But so of course this year I got to be the only sober one in the group, which in its way was quite entertaining really. You know how sometimes you hear people say "you don't need to have alcohol to have a good time"? Well, that's not exactly a lie - it's true you don't need to have it to have some fun. But seriously, I was well jealous of all of those drunken bastards

sucks that you couldn't drink, but props for the restraint.

When the wife had the bun in the oven, I stopped drinking, as well, to be supportive and whatnot.

V sweet of you. But if mr.p did that, I am quite sure he would be such a morose miserable fuck I'd end up wanting a divorce well before I went into labour. I say let him have his nights at the pub with his mates while he still can. After all, he's drinkin' for two now!

Yes being sober while everyone else is plastered is pretty interesting. I mostly like drinking at social events so I can dance like an idiot and not care.

I'm finding it really easy.

there are times when I think I want one then I just do something else

I'm quitting for good though,that's a definite. I just wish I hadn't started back in 1989

I would have saved a lot of cash

drinking booze can fuck off too.no more booze

True...It's not too shabby having a good laugh at the drunken monkeys... Then give them shit the next day. It's also good not to wake up with a horrible hangover and the thought of not knowing what you did the night before to embarrass yourself! But then, I do get jealous when im designated driver for that matter... Haven't had a huge night out in awhile, but that's what this Christmas is for (y):D

Yes! Hah. My neck is all sore from dancing last night and whipping my hair around. I was like doing table dances on the ground and being a rock star. It was awesome.
