reason and fruityloops are great, but i think cubase with audio- and synthplugins is realy da bomb.
you can allso import loops you make in other programs, or make fruityloops a plugin for cubase.

It's probably best for you to try out the different options and go with the one that seems right for you.
I like Acid. I like Reason 2.5. I'll be moving into Mbox2/ProToolsLE 7.0 soon. With this I'll be able to pull in Acid files and have Reason slaved to ProTools. HOLLA!
As a side note, the Beasties have Digidesign Mbox's in their homes and did the last album with Reason/Protools. (Not the reason I'm going with Protools, but I thought it was neat)

I have an MBOX and that shit is the booooom.
It came with a Reason Adapted that I dunno how to integrate with the ProTools but shiet...best 400 bucks I ever spent.

I use FL and am about to start getting my head round ACID, I'm not too technical but I find FL studio easy to use although am still not an expert! Its definitely a good starting point to create sounds and make basic tracks :)

I use FL studio to make my beats, synths, etc .. then I pull them into Acid Pro to work on the arrangement .. I'd rather be using Ableton Live for the arrangements instead of Acid but until I can get a copy Acid will have to do.
