at concerts. I really don't understand. But then my father shared a story about how he got tickets to see Cream in the 60s. 4th row center and he couldn't believe how lucky he was. Right before the concert, the girl behind him blew chow all over the floor and of course it slid down under his seat. The entire concert, he smelled puke which ruined the whole evening. I feel this is where the curse started and its passed down a generation. How can I stop it from reaching my children, if I were to have any?

Last Saturday, I saw one of my favorite groups with killer tickets. Two songs in, the pack of drunk and/or high girls comes over and stands right next to me. "YYYEEEAAAHHH!!!" "WWHOOOOOOO" *talk* *talk* *take pictures* *sing really badly* I'm all for being excited about the people you are seeing but not during the song. This wasn't rock and roll, this was bluegrass. Sure, they covered Britney's "Toxic" but still, shut up. Move? No way, it was crowded. :(

Air/Stereolab = Guys next to us got drunk and talked the whole show and spilled a beer on my friend.

Beastie Boys = Drunk high thugs descided to park it near us and tried to start shit with everyone.

Zero 7 = Old guy next to us gets sick of listening to high kid in front of him talk and puts him in a headlock and they start fighting. Fucking Zero 7 concert with violence.

Bjork = The one girl who decides to stand up the entire time and dance like she's on acid gets a seat right in front of me.

I can go on. I try to block it out but I think the only thing I can do is either stop going to concerts or find the throw up lady from the Cream concert and perform some sort of ritual. Stereolab is coming up in March. I would like to enjoy it :(

I think the fact that you hang around with Cosmo should have been your first clue, Watson.

I've never been to a concert with Cosmo. I feel this has nothing to do with it.

When I wnet to Coachella a few years ago, the funnel cake wasn't cooked all the way.

I think it's just that there are so many stupid people in this world that you cannot avoid being near one at a concert. Seriously. Happens to me everytime as well.

Same thing with going to the movies. Same ish, different setting. It's poopy.

Whoa whoa whoa kids, this isn't going to turn into a movie theatre thread. Lets stick to conerts and suggestions on how to lift the curse. Last thing I want is this thread to burn out so quickly we start talking about pron.

When I went to see Pantera, the Nazi guys found that right in front of me was a good place to start a pit of hate.

I got super lucky at both Beastie Boys concerts I last went to. I was with my boyfriend and one, and a friend at the other. Both helped keep away the idiots so I was in my own little bubble, happy as can be and rapping my little heart out.

But at other concerts, I've been groped, been pulled in to a dog pile (a guy was falling in to it and decided to grab on to a 115 lb GIRL to avoid falling in, and so of course, I fall in with him, and others guys pile on top of us :(), punched (this girl just went crazy and punches everyone withint a 3 foot radius), the giants stood right in front of me, or the drunk ditzy girls kept falling over in to me and would apologize, but would KEEP doing it, over and over.

etc.

This one girl I know got stamped on in a mosh pit and had to be taken backstage by the meds because she couldn't breathe and she got to see the people in the band because they were like walking past where she was. Then they talked to her. So it kind of makes up for he being hurt immensly.

I don't remember what band it was though. Maybe it was incubus or something like that...

...clearly you need a cleansing ritual.

Burn sage in an outdoor pit and hold hands while chanting "Give peace a chance."

After the vibe has set in real nice, pass your tickets through the sage smoke, but briefly; if any of the tickets were heat-printed, they'll turn black and you're hosed.

While passing tickets through the smoke, pray for God to bless your seats. Don't worry; God gets the joke and thinks it's kind of cute.

a) no one over 63 should go to concerts. stay home, echewta.

b) dont have kids. ergo, no curse.

c) be that annoying person.

d) come with a gun. show it off a little. those around you will be afraid.

e) barf on someone. the only way to break the curse is to repeat the curse, pass it on to someone else.

good luck!

I have the Best Luck Ever when it comes to concerts as far as location and usually not being near annoying people (though at the Beasties $2 Bill it was so crowded and I was up at the very front and some guy behind me was pretty much dry humping me). So if your ritual to find Cream vomit lady doesn't work out maybe you just need to up the lucky charms and come dressed in a suit made of four-leaf clovers and rabbit's feet.

I have had the best luck. I'm also more aggressive than most women about protecting my placement in standing, telling people to shut up, or accidentally giving the dancing hippie girl an elbow or two if she dances too vigorously.

My good luck always runs out when it comes to Beck. His fans always suck. No matter where I sit or stand, the gals don't know the songs, they talk, and they scream in the most inappropriate songs. The guys are like drunken frat boys. I think that any artist that's getting a lot of press or critical acclaim attracts bad fans who are there for the scene rather than the music.
