They were also the first artists EVER to, well, read this:
The band received the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for Hello Nasty, as well as the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "Intergalactic". This was the first, and as of 2005, the only time that a band has won awards in both rap and alternative categories.
this is a bit misleading since just about all hip-hop artists, beastie boys aside, will never be nominated in the category of alternative music since they're hip-hop and not alternative.
also calling out 50, puffy, and others because they dont play their own instruments is misguided since 50, puffy, and others dont play any instruments to begin with.
also chris rock didnt say that high plains drifter was the best song ever he said You were mad because it sounded nothing like Licensed To Ill. Then a month later, you're like, "This is the best shit ever. High Plains Drifter is the best song ever" At the MSG concert he was in the video they played and i believe he said "slow and low" was his favorite beastie song.... i think. I know he quoted "slow and low"

picky picky is right, god , i asked if i missed anything, not for a revision...i just wanted to provide some info on their greatness for any naysayers (neighsayers? grammar?) and i think i did that at least a little bit of justice...thanks to the other earlier posters :)

I mainly agree with your points (as I'm sure you're very interested to know), but I think the above is still a fair argument in the persons post for the reason you say. Fair enough it is in a way misleading, but it's to their credit in terms of their varied styles that they can get nominated for, and win, awards in different categorys, so I'd definitely put that in any agruments for the Beasties.
I liked your post though.

i agree but to say they're they only ones to do it is silly cuz they're the only rappers ever to be nominated in both those categories. although i agree is shows their varied styles

exactly what i was trying to get at, i mean, it's pretty easy to misunderstand some of the statements extra cheese was noting in his reply, so i have no real problems with his points i guess, i was just offerring a broad, general bit of info on them
