I'm been semi sarcastic, but still... whats with rock music now? Could you imagine chris martin writing his lyrics in blood from heroin needle ripped from his arm (nick cave)? Could you imagine these inide posers throwing themselves so passionatly into the crowed and mike stand that they leave every show needing stiches (iggy)? Can you imagine U fucking 2 been so passionat about a polictical cause they spit in the presedents face? Can you imagine Blink 182 joining a political party thats main objective is "fucking in the street and smoking weed" (MC5)?
I was watching a pixies DVD of the recent live reforms (which ive been lucky enough to see) and was wondering. Where has all the noise gone? Where has the dirty ass in your fucking face noise gone? I mean some of these new metal bands may be loud - but the noise isn't glorious, isn't raw, isn't essential. All the bite has gone and we need another lunitic nutcase genious to put it back.

Here Here (y)
I think its the fault of bands like oasis, futureheads and a few other bands i've seen that have made rock performances rather dry. They either lack that connection with the crowd, or they give shit to the crowd. However, on the flipside, bands like the hives, at the drive in (back in the day) and a few others maintain that performance energy that iggy exerts. All is not lost ;)

When I saw the futureheads supporting queens of the stone age they almost sent me to sleep. However, when they play them at the local indie nightclub, they are great to dance to.

Yeah, i can agree with you there. Cause i dunno about how they would be in a large venue. The place i saw them was a really tiny venue with everyone dancing. It was probably a crowed thing. :D
I volunteer Anton Newcombe to do it.

Ive been wonderind the same thing. Rock music seems to have taken a turn for the conservative side (at least comercial rock anyway).
