I've heard from two very reliable sources that there are some punk/skater type dudes back in The States that are wearing girls pants now. I guess it's like a new trend. Is this true???!!

sadly, this is very true....it was witnessed by my girl at our local Subway just a few weeks ago.
a gang of faggoty looking teen boys, emo/punked out with the body frames of 12 year old girls....were, in fact, wearing girls low-cut jeans.
she was getting pissed at em, cause they were fuckin taking forever ordering thier "veggie delight" subs with low carb dressing....
she considered beating all thier asses for being so fuckin emo-gay...

The stretch jeans that are a bit low-rise? That's nothing new...those have been around for a couple decades and more. Nor are they "girl pants". Or are we talking about a different and new kind of pants?
no dude...these are straight up girls jeans....straight off the women's rack in the clothing store.
it's sad...very sad what people will do to be differant.

There was a time when American youth of both sexes wore clothes that fit.
Then the youth started wearing extremely baggy clothes. It got so outrageous that it had to scale back a bit.
Are you saying that some American boys are wearing pants that fit instead of pants that are several sizes too large? Are they wearing girl's pants because clothing lines don't make pants for boys that actually fit? Or are you talking about what appear to be gay young men wearing pants that are skin tight, in girl's colors, with what appear to be girl's tops a la Rufus Wainwright at his last concert? (He also wore a brooch with his ensemble.)

Are they wearing girl's pants because clothing lines don't make pants for boys that actually fit? this has nothing to do with practicality at all...they are doing this purely for fashion and attention....they are SKIN tight, they CANNOT be comfortable.
Or are you talking about what appear to be gay young men wearing pants that are skin tight, except this is not necessarily a gay fashion. straight men are doin this...and have been.
it is truly bizarre.
stuff like this should be reserved for the stage...like David Bowie or Elton John...Mick Jagger...

Curious as to why this seems okay for stuff on stage but not for everyday?
stage performances require a "spectacle"...the whole point is to garner attention...people PAY for that. it's not narcisistic for David Bowie or Elton to come out in women's clothes...people WANT that...they want a spectacle, it's part of the entertainment.
however, when the average joe takes it upon themselves to do the same...to try and become a spectacle...that IS narcisistic. the people around him ARE NOT looking for a show, but he is trying to give them one to satisfy his selfish need for attention.
pathetic.

Yeah, when I first read this about women's pants I immediately thought of Jagger. A young Jagger could carry off that look--he's one of the few. Rufus Wainwright sort of did. The David Bowie thing always escaped me, but others seemed to enjoy it.
I don't want to see Elton John in skin tight anything.
Why don't real skaters ever take action? I talked to a retired skater a couple of months ago who threatened to do physical violence to faux skaters wearing improperly scuffed skater shoes. :p

I'm fine with people wearing theatrical clothes in public for attention. I'm fine with any sort of fashion statement. I just want to be clear that it isn't original, it isn't an artistic statement. It's still a uniform.
I have a beloved family member who dresses like a 30's era communist worker. She's an artist. My co-workers would think she looks outrageous, but the people in her community all seem to dress similarly.

I'm not...I must admit I don't follow fashion at all, I'll wear what I feel comfortable in and what looks half hawt and decent...I'm not gona go by what fashion designers thinks looks best when it looks like something that both a male and a female could wear! :p That's my life story anyway.

Yes, I don't care much about what's fashionable. I care more about what I can look acceptable in without much work. But I find that I'm still limited by what's in the stores. I hate shopping, so I will only give it so much time. In the past couple of years, the faux hippie look has been popular. That means that most of what's at the store is off limits for me because (1) I refuse to pay large amounts of money to relive my junior high years and (2) I can't wear it to work.

(y) I agree with finding it hard to shop with what's limited in the stores...I hate seeing everyone wearing practically the same type of thing, we're all individuals, so why not be unique and wear what we feel comfortable in and believe which looks decent.
Though I do wear only surf brands - such as billabong, roxy, cult and rip curl... But that doesn't mean I follow the season's fashion or anything - if it looks good, then I'll buy it and wear it.
I find that the majority of people who follow fashion, are trying to 'fit in' with it all. Silly! :p *shrugs*
Why don't real skaters ever take action?
Because they don't care.
And shit....if I had the means to alter suits...I would mainly buy women's suits because they have some nice patterns on a lot of them.

the reason we skaters dont care is cause if they're wearing those crappy trousers, it usually means they suck balls at skating, therefor it parts the good skaters, from the lamewad skaters.
