View Full Version : So what do I do with this Xbox I'm getting...?

It's the Xbox 360, and we're each getting one as a Christmas bonus whenever they arrive. (I don't know what that means, or when they were ordered, etc.)

1) Any idea when Xbox 360's are available again?

2) Let's assume there's no gift receipt. Ebay, Craigslist, or what? And does the price depend on when mine arrives?

3) What would you ask for it?

It's this one. (http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/56DA078D-93A8-4E9C-8E9F-E40E6B59D073/0/SGRProSku.jpg)

do you have a nephew or neice that may want it?
maybe you should find a car that is unlocked and put it in there with a note.....

Average price on the on ebay is 800$, remember this being an average. I'd ask atleast twice the reail value being around 800$ :D . Atleast you could probably get around a grand or more. Some have gone for 2 grand, depending when you sell it and if Microsoft recalls them or not.

Word on the street is there are some more coming in this week, but that might just be saved stock from the first delivery...

I would sell it while it's hot, no pun intended... Before they get recalled cause they are POS's.

Pfff, what a gip, supply and demand. Overcharging isn't any different than what retailers do. Capitalism rules!

The one at my work stopped working and started freezing up a week after we got it. It seems to work now....

Ill be waiting on my PS3.. so that I may sell it on ebay and buy myself a luxury sedan.

I get pretty humorless about this stuff, dude. :)

Buh, if you just gonna sell it for retail, 300-400$. Give it to some kid with cancer then, or something crazy like Toys for Tots. That would kick ass.

Yeesh. You guys make it sound like I couldn't use cash this Christmas.

That's the thing that bugs me about semi-silly, expensive gifts. I know of at least three of the seven people on staff really, really could have used a cash Christmas bonus instead of this.

It's kind of a "let them eat cake!" thing.

ASsman
12-22-2005, 02:03 PM
That's part of the joy of Christmas, get drunk enough to forget about the whoes in the world...

And it comes back to my original plan.... You could help a lot more with 2 grand, than with some stupid rare console.... Help yourself out, give someone a secret gift (someone that needs it most) buy some toys and drop them off at one of those boxes.

why couldn't they just give you the cash

I'd rather get something I could capitalize on, but that's just me.

TurdBerglar

well that fact that it's a new xbox he can make a fortune ebaying it. but imagine if it were some other $400 useless hunk of plastic. it may not be useless to a lot of people but it sure seems useless to a-z. useless hunk of plastic? or cash? i'd take cash. it just seems like a dumb bonus.

ASsman
12-22-2005, 02:12 PM
I guess their intent was to give them something that's worth a little more than what they actually paid for it. A newly released console being just that... silly yes, but I believe that was their intention.

The owner/boss has lots and lots and lots of money. So do his main guys here. And they love toys. This really is a full-on gesture of love from him; he just doesn't understand what it's like to not be one of the very-well-paid.

I know, when I got my brand new used bike a few months ago after another got ripped off, one of the guys here looked at it and said, "(Boss) really doesn't pay you much, does he?" and was kind of shocked.

Well, to me, I get paid okay, but not the kind of money this guy -- the AE who looked at my bike -- has. To wit: in my office, behind my cubicle area, he has stashed FOUR --- FOUR -- world class touring bikes, one ridden by a former tour de whatever winner -- witha total value of roughly $13,000.

He doesn't ride them. They've been gathering dust for a couple years.

He sees it as an "investment."

TurdBerglar

maybe you can gank on of those bikes and he won't notice

And as for them being shit, I disagree ive played the shit out of mine and still works the same as when I got it...But if you are in the look out for a quick buck I'd go classifieds, I dont know about your area but around hear there going for like a grand and higher and dont stay in the paper for more than a couple of days..

...it's not worth my time to get sucked into a computer dexterity-skillz opiate.

You have no idea how little interest I have in this. Tickets to some formula one race would have registered just slightly higher on my scale of interest -- right under synchronized swimming and basket weaving.

That's what I figure. That's why I'm guessing I'm lucky to get $200-$300 for it when it finally shows up at my door.

Post-Christmas; XBoxes are back in stock everywhere.... pfft.

I hope he gives us gift receipts. :o

There is still a chance if you get it on the incoming shipment, being today... Strike a few more, cause it's still only like double digits at stores... 20-40 at most...

It's only after christmas that there will be loodles of defective XBOX's..
