my mum just about go struck a few weeks ago. she was out the back doing some gardening at it struck a pole about 3 meters from her. I was at home then and heard it and ran outside thinking i could've even struck her. she just put down all her tools and went straight inside while I stood out there all pissed off that i'd missed it by like 20 seconds. i've always wanted to see a lightning strike really close. we had an awesome lightning storm here the other week too (a different one) and I sat outside for about half an hour and watched the skies light up every 30 seconds. Lightning rules & I love the sound of thunder (y) Nothing to be scared of

when i was a little kid me and my dad would always sit on the porch dureing thunderstorms. then he'd let me run throught the massive puddles left after the storm. i've loved them ever since. one time dureing the middle of the winter we had a thunder storm dureing the middle of this massive blizzard. a sky full of snow and lightning is something you need to see.

Does anyone remember the first day of Tibetan Freedom Concert '98?

I was pissed because there were a whole bunch of new bands announced for the first day, and I had tickets for day two because of the Beasties. Then the storm happened, that girl got hit by lightening (my friend was so close to her he felt the heat), and they cancelled the rest of the concert. And then all the bands moved to my day: Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, Radiohead, Luscious Jackson, Buffalo Daughter, Tribe Called Quest, Sonic Youth, Beastie Boys.

It was the best concert ever and since it was my first concert ever, I've got an unrealistic expectation for any concert I go to now.

Anyways, it sucked for that girl. She got visited by some bands in the hospital, though which must have been pretty sweet.

^that's pretty sweet that you went to that.

i find the best place to be to hear/see a lightning storm is either in a valley (the sound is incredible), or the top of a mountain (the sound/light are impressive).

It's very odd.

I mean, it's nice in some ways -- there's no reason to bundle up in twenty pounds of layers just to brave the walk to your mailbox -- but I miss snow.

-- it just rains. I don't think it rains anywhere near as often as we used to get snow in Indiana (it's about 30 days of rain a year in San José), but it's not quite as inviting as snow.

Except for Wednesday, when it was raining fairly hard AND it was kind of warm (sixty-some degrees or so). To catch my bus, I biked three miles after work in that rain, and it was awfully close to glory.

weve had really weird weather today. the temp was forcast to be 38 degrees, (bout 103), but instead it got very stormy, and sorta dark, in a sunny weird way, and a hot breeze was blowing and lightning in the sky, with huge thunder. that was cool. and when it rained, they were like mud droplets?? and left brown splotch marks on our cars. and the clouds were brown. and now another storm is starting to move in (y) (y)

The spelling error makes it look like "tomatoes". Fun.
