MY QUESTIONS: Is Rolling Stone Magazine going to blow The Stones every year? Do they have an agreement where the magazine has to give the band great reviews? Is Mick holding Jann Wenner's puppy hostage? Did this magazine hear something that everyone else missed? I shouldn't make fun because I haven't heard the album. I've been burned waaaaaay too many times by The Stones to give them another listen.

Has anyone actually heard the #2 album of 2005? Anyone?

#2???

Now, I haven't heard it, and it may be very possible that the new Rolling Stones is actually pretty good, but regardless... NUMBER TWO? That's silly, silly business.

But should we be really shocked. The name of the magazine is "Rolling Stone"

I don't think anybody else would have made that connection.

A Bigger Bang is actually quite good, though. I recommend at least giving it a listen.

Edan's album doesn't make it, but fucking Paul Wall and the Perceptionists do?

Perceptionists are alright I guess, but shit, Edan's album is amazing.

Mick, Bruce and Neil really need to take a little time.

At least they're not Paul (http://img.slate.com/media/52/THIS_IS_PAUL-2.wmv ).

BTW, that is one of the most suckiest lists I've ever seen as a year end list.

Late Registration #1?

Am I the only person in the world who thinks that album kinda sucks? Honestly...

Their list is really bad this year. It doesn't make any sense - for example, they originally gave Mariah Carey's album 2 and 1/2 stars (#43), yet they left off NIN-With Teeth which they gave 3 and 1/2 stars.

Oh yeah, The Minstrel Show's absent...

That album took me more than a few listens to finally get into, but I'll say:

The Minstrel Show > Late Registration
The Minstrel Show > BE
The Minstrel Show > The Massacre
The Minstrel Show > The Documentary

The Minstrel Show > The Documentary

Madness. The best hip-hop release was one of the first of 2005. It only becomes that after a year of disappointing big name releases failing to ignite any fires.

Minstrel Show isn't too bad, but it isn't touching The Documentary for Production. And before anybody talks about Game being an average M.C over dope beats, Dangerdoom made me think less of both its protagonists and it promised much more than The Documentary on paper.

Grandmasters was so good only in light of how shit Muggs had become.

I to the M to the H to the O.

Eh, I just don't think The Documentary was that great. Of course the production was excellent, but excellent production alone does not an excellent album make. The Game - as an emcee - is above-average at best. Plus, How We Do was gay, even though the beat was hot as hell. Tight rap album, but not the best of '05.

With The Minstrel Show, you have Big Pooh and Phonte - two emcees about on-par with The Game skill-wise, but a little more clever lyrically. 9th's beats are on-point the whole album. Album concept is cool. Limited filler.

Final verdict? Little Brother wins, suckaaas. Danger Doom was decent. Disappointing, but decent. And I have yet to even hear a single track from Grandmasters. :o

I to the M to the H to the O THAT!

I've not yet heard it, but nearly nothing betters my posts.

I would take Edan over it , I'd take Cage over it, I'd take Dangerdoom over it, I'd take Grandmasters over it.

Was the Murs/9th Wonder album released this year? If so, I'll take that over it, even though I'm not crazy about it.

I'd take Late Registration over it (Diamonds and Gold Digger make up for the crappy tracks and filler).

Yeah.

I haven't heard much Game, but what I have heard was pretty forgetable.

MCs like him come packed in crates there are so fucking many of them.

This might be unpopular, but Rolling Stone needs to stop fellating Kanye West. His new LP was really good, but it was not 5-stars. At all. 50 Cent is #10, Volta is #24, and Coheed is nowhere to be found. They also decided in that issue of RS that if I thought Syriana was scattered, I was incapable of watching a movie without being spoonfed the "Hollywood formula." I've stopped reading their reviews.

I'm talking albums bro, and Game dropped one that owns those you listed.

Murs/9th was 2004.

I don't think MCs like Game come packed in crates. He's the only one who made a solid mainstream hip-hop record this year. The kinds of rappers you would prefer to compare him to, and have listed, inhabit crates in bargain basements.

edit: Put you on the Game>>>>Gold Digger and Diamonds together.
