it's gland used for secreteing fluids into your semen. it's need for sperm to survive outside the body. or something

I don't have a scientific answer for you, I believe it's situated next to the bladder in men only. What it does exactly I'm not sure. Men only have a prostate much like women only have a cervix.

All I know is that sometimes you can get cancer there and then it spreads and then you die.

I hear there's a better test now though.

my grandfather has prostate cancer, but its hard to get a read from him cause hes a tough SOB. Dont think he's in much pain, he just never feels like eating much. It pretty much cant be removed though. So yea prostates suck

Men should ask for a thing called a PSA test; it's a sample of the blood and gives a very accurate diagnosis as to whether the prostate has cancer... If you're in the UK, the NHS have to give you the test if you ask. GET IT DONE!

Yep, it secretes a fluid that makes the semen more alkaline as other components of semen is acidic and it's not good for the spizzerm.

A relative who we hadn't spoken to for a while rang us up for a chat the other week then dropped in "Oh and I've just overcome prostate cancer," poor guy. It is important that it's checked lads because although he's recovered he's only safe for 5-10 years. :(

there's tons of advertisements in my local paper offering massages by Thai women and such. I wonder if they play saxaphone at the same time?

I had mine checked about 6 months ago. Not too pleasant but probably less painful than the annual exam to which women are subjected. All was cool, in terms of size and rigidity, or so I was told.

PSAs are controversial -- I read a story that the guy who invented them wouldn't have one done, today. He feels that are better tests. Regular checkups after 40 are recommended, as, if it's caught early, prostate cancer can be cured.

Most men will have prostate cancer by age 80, if they make it that far. I hadn't heard that it will likely return in 5-10 years, but I wonder if that's because in the US, doctors remove the whole damn prostate.

Also, from what I understand, it's not painful, but uncomfortable when you pee.

I hear pumpkin seeds are very good for prostate problems.

I just had my first mamogram the other week and it hurt like hell. Luckily I don't need to do it again for several years.
I've already had cancer in my neither regions, but that's all cleared. That was discovered in very early stages, thanks to those annual exams.
