When I first got Hello Nasty the song I kept coming back to was 3 M.C's and 1 DJ.

I heard about a video for it, and was pleasantly surprised with it being all the way live. And in concert it's always a highlight. Great stuff.

That said, the album version is still my favourite way to hear it. Does anybody else think the vocals from this and the MMM Slow and Low could be the same session? Or at least the same mics?

That's a tough choice but i decided with hello nasty (y)

This is funny because I just put the video for 3mcs and 1dj on my myspace profile!

I love the live version, although the hello nasty version is good as well. It flows well with the songs around it on the album.

I just couldnt imagine them doing this song with the flow they used on hello nasty at concerts nowadays. Same goes for Body Movin!

Cold kickin it LIVE!

I've always considered the HN version the baseline for which I compare others to it.

I love the live versions but something about the pace of the HN version is noice.

The SNL version ranks pretty high too.

I like both songs but I prefer the live version

I picked Hello Nasty, because of the samples used... I was kind of dissapointed on the DVD version just because I wanted to hear "God damn that DJ saved my day".... On that note, I did like being able to watch Mike cut live on the DVD.... That shit just amazez me..... (y)

I like the live version but I'd only put it ahead of the album one when watching the actual video. I think on the Anthology (or on the single) it had the tiniest bit of touching up (and it loses it's effect a little for me) whereas on the video it's just straight up live audio.

For instance I ripped this mp3 straight from the video:

So yeah...erm that's my favourite way of listening to that track. I voted live version anyhow.

There both awsome, the album version is more of SHOUTING version. But the Live version just pumps me up so much no matter how many times I listen to it (!)

I heard album version first. So for a long time this was my favourite. When I started hearing them perform it live I didn't like it at first.(I always seem to prefer the versions of the songs that I hear first.) And for a long time I preferred HN version but now I'm leaning slightly towards the live version.

too much 'version'

As audio I prefer the album version, but the video would not as cool as it is, if it was with album audio.

I really like how fast MMM scratches on the live one, but I like the album one a lot. I didn't vote because I can't choose. :D

There is a little more (not much) sheen on the horn stab. I believe you're right.

On the album cut, where the spliced up samples go: "Bug out to Mike (My Mic?)" it was supposed to follow with that Snoop Dogg sample "Every single day". Snoops' people wanted royalties on every copy of the album, and thus we got what sounds like Yauch saying "All the Time".

It was in its original form in the snippet played on MTV Europes preview of 'The New Beastie Boys Album' in 1998. Where Mike D actually referenced the influence that Paul's Boutique had on Hello Nasty, stating that they went left instead of going forward. Or something.

At that point I didn't know 'Cane had quit, but thought it suspicious that the Disco Three were singing the praises of another D.J. I'd always thought them to be quite faithful. I suppose they were when you tink about it. Nice day innit?

At least it makes the 3 MC's cut on the Hello Nasty instrumentals though.

on the whole - I like the live version better - but I also really like the last line on the hello nasty version - "goddamn that Dj made my day."

After listening to the live one, the album version seems way too slow. if i hear it on HN i have to dig out the sounds of science cds and play the live one. I voted for the live one. Plus yauchs little bits in the background are wicked on the live one. for example:

(Yauchs bits in brackets)

Now my name is adrock im a scorpio (Scorpio!)

And dont ask me coz i just dont know (I dont know!)

haha i love that

I sed "live one" a lot of times...
