a hot dog from a NYC street vendor
a pretzel from a NYC street vendor
two 7-layer burritos at Taco Bell (on seperate occasions)
an eggplant parm sub
a slice of pizza (a proper one, not like the shite ones you get in England)
a chinese takeaway (a proper one, not like the shite ones you get in England)
Toll House cookies
a burger bigger than my husband's fist
diner pancakes
shrimp with cocktail sauce (real cocktail sauce, not that mayonaisey shite you get in England)
a Philly cheesesteak, in Philly
a nice, thick, chewy garlic bagel with lox and cream cheese
a Reuben sandwich as Katz's

and probably more stuff I'm forgetting now

I totally love how being preggo on this trip has given me the perfect excuse to shove all of this stuff in my face (y) God bless America.

I don't like McDonalds to begin with, and anyway even if I did, I could get that in England.

I am focussing my energies on the things I usually cannot have.

What is a chick-a-fila?

This is America at its best.

You need a Wisconsin brat that was boiled in beer. The beer is just for taste and won't affect the baby, I'm sure.

The chicken fillets in the sandwhich are seasoned to perfection and are fried. They have two pickles on them. The bread is lightly buttered. The chick-a-fila restaurants have other things too like grilled chicken, chicken strips, brownies, lemonade etc, but the chick-a-fila sandwhich is the classic.
I'm hungry now. Hey Faith, go steal me a sammich. :p

I am glad to see that you made it to Katz's, one of my favorite spots in the city.

There is a great pizza spot under the brooklyn bridge called Grimaldi's.
Also, if you can't get out of the city Lombardi's on Spring is pretty good for pizza.

Did you go to Pat's or Geno's for the Cheesesteak?
I can't recall, I remember there was some debate about this in the car on the way there but I can't remember where we finally ended up. In my defense of this lapse, it was Tuesday afternoon, and I'd just been to the Franklin Institute with my nieces and nephew, along with about 400000 other families, and the kids had bought and consumed something called "liquid candy", which comes in a test tube and I can only assume is some sort of LSD for the under-12 set.

Now I am back in Jersey Sity and I am going to go have potato pancakes and pierogi at Tania's. O beautiful for spacious skies.

There is no point in talking about American food until you get south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Two of my mates that are in NY for New Year have texted saying they have the shits from the food. I find this funny because this is what the Yanks say of our chippies and whatnot and also because "the shits" makes me giggle.

Hey Peach,
did you venture into Philly to attend the New Year's day Parade?
No - New Year's Eve we drove up to my friends' house in a town called Olive Bridge NY, which is kind of near New Paltz. They used to be our mates back in Jersey City but now they live on top of a mountain in the middle of the woods, so we brought the dog with us up here and have been running around in the woods and playing in the snow with their 5 year old for a few days and drinking big mugs of cocoa in front of the fire. We'll probably leave later today to head back down to JC, unless we get snowed in, we'll see.

not sure if you eat pork but if you do, try some home made pork craklins. Not store bought but you should find some places that sell them.
