I remember listening to it during Christmas vacation, so a February release is a tad off. I think it was more like the third quarter of 86.

I tried a couple of searches and couldn't find out what the actual release date was. I saw some references to it being #1 in November of 86 though.

I don't remember hearing about the Beasties until my senior year which would have been at the earliest in the Fall of 1986. Didn't they tour with Run DMC, LL, Whodini, and the crew before LTI actually hit the shelves?

the beasties toured with everybody including murphy's law, public enemy and fishbone.

Yeah...they did quite a bit of touring before LTI actually dropped.

I think their headlining tour (the one with the hydraulic penis) was after the album actually hit the shelves and started to blow up.

I decided to pull out the Columbia Records press release to see if I could find an actual release date.

It mentions Madonna's summer '85 tour, then the Raisin' Hell tour, then it mentions the Raisin' Hell tour climaxing in London's Hammersmith Odeon on September 12-13th.

Then it immediately goes on to say:

"Licensed to Ill, however, is bound to bring the Beastie Boys their greatest acclaim to date."

With the numbers 8610 on the bottom of the second sheet. This leads me to believe it had to be released in October of 86.

The Together Forever tour was in 1987. That was when I saw the Beasties for the first time. Summer of '87 in New Orleans!!!

august 17th, 1987 at MSG for me. 17th row! tickets were only $17.50 back then.

Here's (http://www.beastiemania.com/gigog/show.php?g=19870726) my ticket. $16.50. (y)

This also reminds me I have some newspaper scans for Beastiemania.

I had saved my ticket, too but lost if a couple of years later. this show was amazing. I met mike tyson, mike d, malcom jammar warner, ll cool j and rick rubin backstage!

Was Molly Ringwald there? I swear I thought I spotted her side stage. :)

i didnt see her, but I didnt see adrock either (they could have been getting it on somewhere else!)

does anyone remember a guy the beastie boys called "POPS?" he was in the beastie boys tour program.

my friends mother was flirting with him, thus getting us to the backstage area!

It's interesting you say that about Horovitz. During the encore of Walk this Way, Mike and Yauch were the only two that came out to join in with Run DMC.

Hmmm...not sure about Pops though. Sounds vaguely familiar.

I read once that Adrock used to fly out directly after some gigs to see herself. Thats just a shot in the dark though...
