Wolfmother will be in the Top 5. Triple J can be right fuckwits when it comes to Aussie bands. Especially bands that rip off better, older bands.

Has anyone noticed that the video to Mind's Eye (I really do like that song) is pretty much a homage/ripoff (which ever way you want to look at it :p) of the Gratitude video? true story, at least, that's what I noticed when I first saw it.

No homage. An homage should be in passing. Continued lifting of a style is talentless, plain and simple.

Fair enough, and I do see what you mean about Triple J whoring Aussie bands, particularly when they come #1 on the hottest one hundred one year, and three years down the track just about everyone has completely forgotten about them.

Nah take like 2 or 3 of the top 10 places, but be beaten for the number one by a british band (franz ferdinand last year, bloc party this year).

Yeah that'd be my second after banquet. Well that is if only triple j listeners voted. However, you are probably right about feel good inc because alot of mainstream listeners vote in the hottest 100.

When wasn't it??
Anyway triple j hasnt got anywhere near as bad as what triple m have gotten. They slipped from a genuine alternative to triple j to a pop radio station as soon as Austereo or whoever bought them. I remember the days when they used to actually play metallica, ac/dc, nirvana, pearl jam etc etc.

The top 20 is never filled with hippy shit. Its always got the more poppy stuff in it. Anyway, this year couldnt possibly be any worse than 2003 (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/history/2003.htm)
Heres what I voted for, although my shortlist was about 100 songs long, so I dont know if these were really my favourite songs.
Helicopter - Bloc Party
An Honest Mistake - Bravery
The Denial Twist - White Stripes
Kill Rock N Roll - System Of A Down
Everybody Knows That You Are Insane - Queens Of The Stone Age
L'Via L'Viaquez - Mars Volta
Daft Punk Is Playing At My House - LCD Soundsystem
Everyday I Love You Less & Less - Kaiser Chiefs
King Of The Rodeo - Kings Of Leon
Dare - Gorillaz

Have there been any good songs this year?
The only good thing about triple j these days is Jay and the Doctor cause they hark back to the days of overt political broadcasting and completely unprofessional behaviour. The Morning Show is completely ruined. Robbie Buck is knowledgeable but annoying, rosie beaton and mel in the morning (originality?) need to kneecapped and Caroline Tran is being brought back. Next thing you know Jane Gazzo and Charlie Pickering will be inflicted upon us again.
Thank the Great Pumpkin for Richard Kingsmill. The rant ends here.

yeah they are, i know one of the guys in it, its not one of my top 10 songs, but you have to support people you know :)
(although i feel bad for not voting for a layla track - she lives around the corner from me, but i dont think her track has a chance anyway)

That is fucking criminal. Where did Wolfmother place? Hopefully near enough to a cliff for my sneezing to topple them over the edge and into oblivion.

Wolfmother broke the record for most tracks in the hottest 100, with 6 I think. The top two places were pretty soft. But from there on it was alright...
