I've bought a bunch of shows on DVD, among them Futurama and The Family Guy. While the DVDs are put together well, there's no 'play all' on the menus. Why? I can't go to sleep without knowing a seamless marathon of viewing delights will nurse my subconcious through the early stages of my slumber.

Also my girl's Sex and the City box-set is lacking 'Play All', but our Seinfelds all have the feature. Could this be the beginning of the West-Coast/ East-Coast war of home viewing? Cause Sex and the City was shot in N.Y, and Seinfeld in L.A, right? Oh shit, fuel on the fire!

The Transformers DVDs have it. They just play all the episodes without a god damn piss break.

So that has credits at the end of each episode?

Seinfeld was shot in L.A. (but set in NYC).

I try to avoid the "play all" option because it means there's still a chance that my ass will leave my chair in between shows. :p

Some crazy British documentary-type shows don't even tell you they put more than one episode on a DVD, so I had some massive gaps in the history of Britain and was wondering why they never mentioned certain kings.

You sure? I know Seinfeld is set in N.Y, but they shot it in L.A.

I think New York was the location shots only. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098904/locations)

My bad, didn't notice the "shots" bit. Makes sense though, I reckon most of the studio's and consequently the sets are in LA so most of everything is likely to be shot in LA.

Fucking your friends just causes awkward situations.

I'd advise against it.

I'm almost positive my season 4 futurama dvd's have a play all option

But I don't watch the dvds - divx/xvid is your friend ;) It's become a really bad habit of mine to leave my computer on at night, and usually with cartoons playing, and it's become almost so bad that i can't go to sleep without it. The best part is waking up in the morning and it's still playing, and it starts to enter into your dreams (y)

ps. this reminded me to upload the new version of the winamp volume graph (http://www.boodizm.net/downloads/Volume%20Graph.wal)

Yes, it's got this volume normaliser thing. It samples the VU meter every 50ms (i think thats the default) and gets the highest value over a certain number of samples (i think 50 is the default again) and then sets a target volume based on the VU meter value. It then slides the volume towards the target volume, to create a smooth increase or decrease. You'll just have to play with the sliders and see what they do ;) My settings are:

Sample Rate: 50ms
Set target every 75 samples
Set volume every 5 samples
Slide up 0.054
Slide down 0.2

So basically, every 250ms (50x5) it's going to slide up 5.4% of the way, or slide down 20% of the way. I probably should've used % there come to think of it...

I'd suggest 50ms for the sample rate unless your computer is really crap and it has issues then move it up (i never had issues but thought it wouldn't hurt to put that there)

It's not for everyone ;)

I didn't understand the Slide up/Slide down just by looking at it, but now that I know it's % it's easier.

I've used it for many nap times on the couch (y)

So basically, you have to push play on the remote! How do you manage?

Let me tell you, it takes a lot. The word 'hero' isn't one that should be bandied about freely; but I feel that is what I am.

Much like the Police, Firefighters, Ambulance staff and other bastions of the community, I am busy pressing the 'Play' button throughout the holiday season.

I am selflessly giving my time to manually enjoying my favourite shows.

I hope I'm up for Australian of the Year (Again.).

Argh, niether of my Fawlty Towers DVDs do. I was nodding off last night at the end of 'The Germans' then it goes back to main screen, BLARING the theme tune. Play All would be really nice. :(
