“I have the feeling about 60 percent of what you say is crap.”

GO DAVE!!!!

Just heard about this on another forum and then found this site which has a transcript of their conversation (and a link to a video of it):

"With O’Reilly as Guest, Very Serious Letterman Denounces Iraq War & Hails Sheehan" (http://newsbusters.org/node/3454)

This is awesome, especially after hearing today's news about that Abramoff guy confessing to all he did and all the members of Congress who could now be in serious doo doo because of it (including Tom Delay (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/politics/3563741.html)).

If there were a liberal media bias, or even a non-corporatist bias, they'd acknowledge that a full 90% of what O'Reily says is crap. (with the remainder being articles like "a" and "the").

One of the comments, saying "Reilly made agood point about foreign intelligence", total uninformed bullcrap.

The Russians weren't for the war at all for starters, and the french intelligence service, DGSE described the Niger yellowcake reports as "Bullshit" and told the US that their extensive investigations had soundly refuted them a year BEFORE Bush's notorious state of the union address.

The Butler report shows the same.

Quite simply, O'Reilly doesn't make a good point, because the international intelligence community, INCLUDING THE CIA, thought Saddam's regime was powerless. Rummy and Condi said they doubted Saddam's ability to field conventional weaponry, let alone WMDs.

Liberal media bias is clearly conflated with "fact."

i found that discussion relatively even...

letterman wasn't saying much of anything novel....and actually looked like a boob, just regurgatating liberal soundbytes he's heard.

and Bill....well, bill was bill.
and arrogant prick....who's info is mostly piece-mail bullshit and fabrications.

basically, it was 2 idiots talking about what they don't know....both armed with shallow info, but tons of arrogance.

Sounds like every American talkshow I've ever had the misfortune to tune in to.

I think what is significant about this very public conversation, shallow or not, was that it took place on a show not aimed at people like us but rather, a show mostly aimed at the "Regular Joes" of America.

And this may sound kind of snobbish of me, but IMO its those Regular Joes that need more information on subjects like these. Because I'll mention issues like what are discussed on this forum-not in a heated way but just casually becuase I don't want to look like a nut job-issues that can affect ALL of us in a direct manner, and most people look at me like I just told them something in a language they've never heard before i.e. nearly 100% INcomprehension. :( Or maybe they simply prefer not to talk about controversial subjects (because the politically-correct crowd has proclaimed everyone should be stupidly happy at all times, no matter what?). Whatever the reason for this attitude, I'm glad dissatisfaction with our present leaders is becoming more mainstream than ever.

A more appropriate "word"...

A person would have to be pretty arrogant to not understand the subtle yet very significant implications of what that 11.5 minutes of National TV means.

David Letterman is far from ignorant on matters pertaining to Iraq. Ask the USO, soldiers he's had on the show and entertained overseas.

Great guy and he seems to be getting better as a parent.

It's awesome to see him take on John Stewart like quallities.

Another way Letterman is superior to Leno. Leno would have taken O'Reilly for a ride on his Harley.

I think it's a watershed moment.

A public entertainer who is supposed to avoid controversy just said the war was wrong. It's not news to any of us, but it's a big deal in the scheme of things.

Also, I realize that Bill is not a real newsman, but how can he mispronounce MI6?

That idiot Letterman is making $31.5 million dollars a year sitting in a chair talking to movie stars, telling jokes and listening to live bands.

I'm going to have to do some math on who is or is not idiot, I'll get back to you on this.

I think I do. Yeah....thats what I'm trying to say....it doesn't make you any smarter if you call millions of people idiots. It would make you a sort of "random generalization generator" who feels better about yourself by proclaiming what others free time should consist of.

It would make you a sort of "random generalization generator" who feels better about yourself by proclaiming what others free time should consist of.My free time consists of making sweeping generalisations about millions of people and proclaiming what they should be doing with their free time.

Do you have a problem with that?

Anyway, it's not a generalisation, it's logic.

Here's why:

Americans watch Letterman

Americans are idiots (proof (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/choice2004/art/p_bushmainp.jpg))

Therefore, people who watch Letterman are idiots!

P.S. ;)

Bill O' Reilly's personality is a swell thing to observe, regardless of what he actually stands for. Mannerisms like his are the kind that should be emulated by anyone who wants to display unyielding bluster and ego.

He's a hell of a bloke to imitate at times.
