Same thing happened to us on the way back from Mexico a few years ago. I used to travel a lot, and would fight for upgrades, especially 5+ hour flights.
But, on this trip, the mrs. didn't want me to fight so I said nothing. Then, they called us out of line and told us they ran out of coach seats and would we mind first class. We got filet mignon and personal DVD players with 20 movies from which to choose. And 6 other people who whom to share 2 lavoratories.

You can have it then, darling. I prefer the pre-flight cocktail, the seat that folds flat to a bed, the fluffy duvet, the Ozwald Boateng toiletries kit, the in-flight beauty therapist, the 'freedom' menu (order what you like, when you like) served on real plates with a tablecloth and and the cute little souvenier salt and pepper shakers shaped like little airplanes, but hey, that's just me.

You know what else is really great? I just unpacked all of the baby clothes and blankets and booties and all that we bought/received on our trip and laid them out all over the sofa before putting them away. Oh my god they are so cute, I just want to eat them.
I know that this isn't really relevant for the thread topic per se, but I didn't want to start a whole 'nother thread about this since probably no one cares about it but me but I can't help it, they're too too cute, I just can't keep it in.
