Same here, "Fight for your right" in 1986 when I was 13. Riding in the back of my Mom's Station wagon.
Upon hearing the song, I immediately kicked out the back window and bolted from the car....nah just kidding. :)

Well, technically it was No Sleep Til Brooklyn. Because when I was little my dad would jam a bunch of music, mostly rock. But I remember hearing No Sleep Til Brooklyn when I was 4, and remember it because it was different from everything else he played. But the first song I heard, and was actually consious of them being the Beastie Boys was Intergalactic.

That would have to be Fight for Your Right, most memorably being blasted out of my little brother's bedroom much to my annoyance :D

I heard it when it was first released. They were playing it on college radio at the time. I remember hearing Grandmaster Flash before that too. I didn't label it either as rap or hip hop music at the time, that's how new it was. But now it's old school and so commercial and I've heard it before. The same station who played them rarely touches rap now, except on their street beat show, that was the rock show I heard both on at the time.

I remember those. I actually bought a few. The tapes I bought were called Rap Masters (whatever number you bought) and then, The Best of (The Jam, The Bad, etc.)
My first Beastie song was "She's On It". Unless I heard them before that and didn't realize it.
It was 1984. My friend Victor Rodriguez gave me a tape that had "Beastie Groove" on it. Or was it... It is the one where they kick DMC and Burzootie out of the studio. "Your just fessin' man, I don't even wanna hear about it, you're just fessin'..." Anyway, I found the tape last year and put it on CD. Other songs on it were "King of Rock" and "You Talk Too Much" by Run DMC, a couple "Roxanne Roxanna" songs, some Inspector Gadget song.. I actually listened to it the other night. It's hard to believe I've had it for 22 years now.

Thought it was intergalactic but it was really fight for your right to party. Heard it on the way to baseball game when i was 12. We got the coach to play the song probably 4 times in a row. At that time I thought they were just a one hit wonder, then I saw Intergalactic and Hello Nasty changed my life.

unlike some of you who are lying:mad: ..(i heard ffyr at age 2)..common.
Id like to say something from lti or pb...but i wasn't exposed to alot of music until the late 90's (tv sucked where im from)
I got hooked when I heard Alive. I remember i was watchin trl with all these crappy pop videos and they debuted the video one day on the show....and i was like "woah"
Ever since that day in 99 I have listened to the beasties everyday. If there is a day in there that i didnt listen to them im sure I at least sang a lyric during the day.
I think I need professional help im so addicted.

I guess it was Fight for Your Right although I didn't really take notice of it. It was a song that had radio play time and I'd keep it on if I didn't feel like changing the station. But it wasn't a song that I enjoyed then or now.
Now, it's sometimes good to watch that video to see how much they've changed (not just physically).

paul revere. my cousin played it for me when i was in 7th grade (1986) i thought the album was 'licenced to kill' i couldnt remember the name of the band so i called record stores in town looking for it and nobody had it (since i was asking for the wrong title) i bought it finaly and played it everyday for over a year. i bought Pauls Boutique the day it was released and was very disapointed (i was a kid who wanted a cookie cutter cd of licenced to ill) it wasnt until a few years later i really started likeing this cd. (now it is my favorite Beastie cd) johnny

"(You've Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)" on the radio while I was in the car going home from Hershey Park back in July 1997. I thought it was funny, but that's about it.
The first Beastie Boys song I *liked* was "Intergalatic" back in 1998.
But the song that turned me into a fan was "Sure Shot", and this was back in 2004.

^ I heard Intergalactic on the radio prior to that, its just that it sticks in the mind because my older brother kept singing "Intergalactic planetary, planetary intergalactic" for days after it.
