How long will Israel, the US, and, by extension, the UN, allow this to continue?

I've read numerous articles that say that many of the next generation in Iran WANT the US to come in and depose the mullahs, but then want the US to leave immediately.

Is there any reality to all this or should we just let Iran have nuclear capabilities that can be nuclearized?

well what about the Congo? Darfur? and North Korea?

oh...duh, the U.S. only wages war, mean 'liberates" nations with oil

Didn't the French and Belgians take care of the Congo?

North Korea? Are you crazy? Kim Jong Il scares the crap out of us. Plus, the South Koreans want to do that crazy "dialogue" thing and we have to abide by what they want for now.

What's up in Darfur? Continuing problems?

What are you going to say when the US gets out of Iraq by the end of the year?

I will say, "Finally!"

and don't misconstrue that as lack of support for our troops, view it as a disgust for failed foriegn policy and illegal war-mongering

I didn't want a single troop nor innocent to die for lies

Where's Osama?

I think we should invade Alberta and get their oil instead.

Crap....if even Hillary is "off the reservation" to go after Iran, what has political discourse come to in the US?

What with?

"go after Iran".

What with?

Predators, missiles, conventional bombs from the Air Force, naval bombardment, and, in extremis, nuclear options.

Heck, we could mass our troops on the border with Iran from Iraq and invade from there and via sea. Paratroopers.

Anyhow, the point is that the options are endless.

Hillary, however, to get back to what the article said, was simply asking for the Security Council to take up the matter and consider sanctions, which would probably fly with the US, Britain, France, probably Russia, but NOT China, which has significant oil interests in Iran.

that's what the oppressed populace or minority of every oppressed country wants.
they want the US to come in, and do what they are afraid/unable to do....then get the fuck out.
the "freed" country decends into civil war and every sect clamours for power.
repeat in 20 years.
America get's jack shit in return.
America: the military prostitute.

if we go in, we are imperialistic bullies.
if we don't, we are turning out back on civil rights abuses.

if we leave, we are leaving a country in ruin and civil war.
if we stay, we "become the imperialistic oppressors".

if only it was possible to turn our back on the rest of the world and tell them to deal with thier own shit...but the world's level of interdependance is too far past that now.

Excellent post, my friend. Welcome back to the game.

The only thing you missed is that even if we DON'T take anything out of the country we're helping, we STILL get accused of nefarious intent, so we're screwed no matter what.

Maybe we should let France take the lead in world affairs, as they so obviously want to do....
