i made a thread about this a long time ago, and didnt want to bring it back (but i do have those recipies down allready)
so everyone should know ii love soup. and i want to make more soup; so you should post your cool soup recipies here. and give an idea of how many servings it is for. i'd like to make a large amount, so that i can save it for future lunches and such

I'm making a curried pumpkin/butternut squash soup as I write this. I think I posted here how I made it last time, but if I didn't or if you can't find it with the 'search' function let me know. I'm pretty positive I did though and it wasn't that long ago, because I remember writing something about how you can leave out the saffron if it's just too pricey.

yea ,i am a freak soup too!
I dont follow recipies really tho!
But you got with the taste!
I love my chicken soup:
chicken broth(real fat form the chicken you cook)
piece of chicken(i use just the white basically)
brocoli, carott, onion,(but i think you can any kind of vegetable,,but brocoli is a must)
rice(almost at the end and not too much, like a hand full)
garlic( i put a lot)
salt,pepper,cayenne(if you like)
And ,ususally i put less spice and along the way i adjust it!
green lentills soup:
green lentills
potatoes
carotte
onion
chicken broth(powder one)
salt, pepper,garlic
butter(a little spoon)
first i let the lentills cook in the pot, when there are middle cook,i add all the others ingredients, cover, low heat ,and let itcook!
yea,and i all do those "a la bonne frankette"meaning with my judgement,i dont follow portion ...

bob's red mill makes some bitchin' soup mixes. just add it to some water + boullion / broth and simmer for about an hour, and add a sage leaf + celery pieces + potatoes as desired
i suppose you could put in some crock-potted beef if you wish, too

Oh that's how the Italians use up leftover minestrone/bean soup and bread that's gone a bit stale, by making "ribolitta" (literally, 'reboiled'). Put the sliced bread in the bottom of the bowl, add a layer of fresh grated parmesan on top of it, and then ladle in the hot soup on top of that.

Well... it's not the best thing for you, but it's not the worst. I think it's a bit unfair to single Campbell's out, because really it's thhe same story with many of not most tinned soup brands - they do tend to have a very high sodium content, and often a surprising amount of sugar as well. The creamier varieties may also contain a fair amount of fats, although not neccessarly an excessive amount. They're certainly not going to be as good for you as a freshly-made soup (not much is), but I think there are much worse things you can eat.

something easy:
1 can of chunky soup (i like sirloin burger and country vegetables but any kind will do, just make sure when you shake it it doesn't sound liquidy, should sound sorta solid)
1 cup rice OR 1 package ramen noodles
make da rice/ramen, micro the soup, drain the damn rice/ramen(always leave about 5 or more tablespoons(or a little less!) of ramen broth to mix up into the noodles then mix to a fine little monstrosity! great for a tight budget, if you dont have much money the soup is 1.50-3.00 and rice ramen is .25 cents to 1.00
OR
ramen + 1 can of chunk ham or chicken breast (canned) dump 1/2
or less onto paper plate and cover w/ the noodles then apply futtermans rule and eat...always use chicken flavored noodles OR sapporo japanese noodles

even easier... and its the shit when you're sick.
ingredients:
garlic
olive oil
salt
water
trow some oil in the pot and trow the thin sliced garlic up in that. brown the garlic. add water and salt. maybe a bullion cube... voila. garlic broth for those coughy shivery nights. add pasta if you wish. good shit.

bitchin' soup mixes.
I don't know why, but that made me chuckle quite a bit.
Big fan of Portobella mushroom soup here. (y)
I just had some bomb ass soup I made last night.
1 lb of raw shrimp (51-60 count), peeled, and deveined.
About 60 Fl ounces of chicken broth (4 medium cans)
1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, minced
3 handfuls of fresh baby spinach
about 8 or 9 oz. of Thai Rice Noodles (half a package for me)
1/2 a cup of finely chopped cilantro
1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
Pepper to taste
Soak the noodles in some warm water for about 5-10 minutes. In my experience if you don't soak the noodles before hand they suck up a lot of the broth.
Put the noodles, shrimp, broth, and ginger in a soup pot and let it simmer for about 8 or 9 minutes
Add crushed red pepper, freshly ground pepper, cilantro, and baby spinach.
Simmer some more for about 5 minutes or until the shrimp is done.
Put in bowl, and enjoy the goodness.
I'd say it made a good 10 servings. So its gonna be a soupy week at my house.
Its really simple to make and really really good. I'd say this is probably one of the best soups I've ever made.
Maybe I should have put some lemongrass in this.
Also, I rarely measure anything so this is all a guesstimate. except for the shrimp and the broth.

jamie oliver's bastardised french onion soup!
i lurrrvveee onion soup. with loads of gruyère and plenty of crusty bread.
ingredients;
1.1kg/2 and a half lbs onions, chopped etc
1.3l/2 and a half pints stock - whatever you like
6 garlic cloves
bay leaf
thyme
instructions:
1. fry onions with garlic, thyme and bay leaves and a knob of butter. the slower you cook the better. caramalising is the name of the game! aim for a low heat for about 15 minutes.
2. turn the heat up, add stock, boil for a wee while, then turn the heat down and simmer for 20 minutes. add a splash of cognac or sherry if you keep any of that isht in your drinks cabinet.
3. rip bits of wholemeal crusty bread up, place on top of soup, place gruyère on top of this, bang under the grill and voila!
I had soup today, one of those "just add water" things. Anyway, it was the first time since 1994 that I had soup. It was like normal food, only wetter.
How do you remember that 1994 was the last time?
Because I was at school then and I haven't had soup since school. And also my memory is weird like that.
