jabumbo

i like the way coffee tastes, and i love the way it smells

the thing is, regular coffee is just too watery for me, and i don't want to just dump half a cup of milk/cream into it.

so to you coffee drinkers out there, what should i try?

i wouldnt drink it every day, but sometimes i just need a booster, and i want it to taste good

Sounds like what you want is an espresso, mate. Maybe a macchiato.

both are good....

but as a straight male....he could only order an espresso.

the macchiato, like the latte, requires that you have had a penis inside you at some point.

 how is the word 'macchiato' effeminate? It means "marked", which sounds kinda macho to me, in an old-west-showdown kinda way.

You're a bit too worried about fitting into society "macho" male role.

well, no one wants to be misclassified....
and yes, we ALL care about that...

Oh, I see, being a man means communicating solely by a series of monosyllabic grunting noises. Otherwise someone somewhere might get the idea that you like a big fat cock up your ass. Got it.

Yeah; try an espresso.

If you're making it at home, try adding more coffee grounds. I usually make coffee with about twice the grounds most people use. Two of us here like it strong, and the ones who don't water it down with hot water.

what do they do in an espresso that's any different?

(yeah, i know nothing about coffee)

abcdefz

It's basically a goodly amount of coffee extra-finely ground, and then hot water is forced through it.

It's kind of like fruit concentrate almost, except, you know. Coffee.

Also it is more dense, has a more rich texture. Slightly oilier.

When I'm on the road I usually go for a quadruple shot Americano, which is 4 shots of espresso with 6 to 8 ounces of water added.

Otherwise I roast my own coffee which is always excellent. I use the iRoast2 (http://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.hearthwareiRoast2.shtml) and purchase fresh green coffee beans from sweet marias.

I'm a coffee maniac.

Then you need to get in first and make the damned coffee yourself, to your own specifications.

Make sure it's good coffee -- not Sysco or Folgers or Hills Brothers or some other industrial grade sawdust.

Use about two tablespoons per cup of coffee you want to make. Most folks use about one.

that's part of the problem -- an awful lot of people who "like coffee" don't like coffee, so they make it weak ("Not too strong!!!!") and then add tons of sugar and creamers and stuff so it tastes as little like coffee as possible. These people are out to ruin coffee as we know it.

Take charge. Do a Google search or two and learn a little about coffee. experiment, see how you like it.

Ah, ad hominem attacks. Real cute. Stick to the argument at hand boy.

Anyhow, character is about how you treat other people and sentient beings. Corporations aren't sentient beings and neither are CD players and lipsticks.

you're talking about character and responsibility....and then rationalizing stealing/shoplifting?

another future republican politician in our midst..

and EVERYONE cares what others think about them....to NOT care would likely mean you are clinically insane.

1. Real men know coffee and are able to order it in public without worrying about what other men think.

2. If I ever get ulcers and I'm told that I have to quit drinking coffee, I'll just kill myself instead.

When I'm on the road I usually go for a quadruple shot Americano, which is 4 shots of espresso with 6 to 8 ounces of water added.

3. That would be a strong cup of black coffee. If you are looking for a strong coffee with milk, but a grinder and order strong beans from a coffee place and grind them slightly on the fine side and add your own milk. If you're ordering it out, don't order a latte ever. Latte is hot milk with a shot or two of espresso. A cappucino is espresso with milk.

Get a "cappucino on the dry side." At Starbucks, I order a grande, sometimes with an extra shot. A venti is just more milk. At Caribou, their large has the extra shot. "On the dry side" tells the person making it that you want less milk and that you TRULY want a cappucino because you would have ordered a latte if you wanted a fucking latte. Good coffee shops know this--bad ones will still give you a latte. If they did it right, you cup will be about 1/2 full and will be very light to pick up.

Put raw sugar in it sometimes. They will put the raw sugar in the bottom of the cup with the espresso before adding the milk if you ask.

Oh, and this has been a great month for me. I found a Caribou coffee place in Alexandria, Minnesota. I nearly wet myself when I saw it peaking from behind the gas station. Two weeks ago, I found a fabulous local coffee shop in Moorhead, Minnesota (next to Fargo). They even have good music. Things are looking up.

they just opened a caribou on campus, and apparently they pay cold hard cash for people to play/sing a little easy going music. sounds pretty cool to me

I don't know if I should put this in recipes, but anyway you
got to try a Funky-Pepp's-Extra-Special-Coffee-for-hard-Days:
If you usually put one spoon (piled) of coffee per cup you
have to use 2-3 for this Special. If you've got migraine as
well put some lemon-juice in it (but that really sucks – so
just use it if you need it). Otherwise try the special with
milk and caramel-sirup. Delicious again... :)

go to starbucks and order a caffe americano. the venti seems to be too much, so i'd suggest a tall.

that's a medium to normal folks.
