ok, before i start, let's not turn this into a metalli-bashing please. don't post in this thread if you wanna be an arse and show how cool you are for not liking metallica.

anyway, both of these albums are spotless; any metalhead will tell you so.
i'd just like to hear some opinions, thoughts, arguments.... sorta like that thread mickill made.

for me; it's MOP but only just... i can't think of a real reason, but it just feels like Hetfield was writing lyrics ahead of his time, at the time.

yeah...

Reign in blood for me. I like some old Metallica, but as long as they're not wearing make-up, old Slayer pwns most metal.

i blame kirk and lars for the make-up.

you really don't wanna see the cover/booklet thing in the Load cd case. good God. (n)

edit; or are you talking about slayer wearing make-up? kerry king used to rock out some strange outfits back in the day.

Reign in Blood. It really blew every other metal band out of the water as far as I'm concerned. MoP is really, really good but Reign in Blood was a ferocious, uncompromising and nasty piece of work. Best metal record since 'The Number of the Beast' by Iron Maiden.

Slayer has a raw yet tight sound, old Metallica occasionally had a more symphonic feel to them.

Haven't heard either album in a long time (although I did listen to "And Justice For All..." just yesterday evening) and I'm going to call it a draw based on that.

Yeah, Slayer were glam-ish at first.

So were Pantera, funnily enough.

Battery isn't on Reign in Blood.

Reign in Blood is incredible in its own right, but nah, not moreso than MoP. Number of the Beast doesn't touch it either. The proverbial "first 4 albums" still blow me away.

Two flaws I have with "Reign in Blood" is that it isn't long enough and it's not "Seasons in the Abyss"
"Seasons in the Abyss" was always my favorite Slayer album. That being said, I'll take either one over "Master".
Seasons would be my #2 slayer album. there's some songs on Seasons i can skip; Reign in Blood - you can't skip a track.

i don't have a problem with the length of Reign in Blood. songs are short; yeah but they do the job. MOP does the same thing, 'cept with the obvious difference; longer songs. i can't imagine Disposable Heroes (ridiculously underrated) being any shorter than what it is.

yeah i know, i know.
i just wanted to hear what the people think.

i would also like to take this opportunity to whinge about the audio volume on the MOP cd. it's low as! :(

Nothing's worse than the sound quality on the Justice album. Well, maybe world hunger and terrorism. But it's right up there.

The clipping on "one" makes me cringe every time.

If I want to go balls out...its Reign in Blood.
If I want to rock out...its Master of Puppets.

Its too hard to choose which is better since one is a lot more hardcore than the other....they are two different levels.

Seasons vs. Reing in Blood, however, is an easy choice. Reing in Blood.

1 - Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning
2 - Justice (don't really have a reason...I just love it) and Garage Days Re-Revisited
3 - Kill Em All

I would like to mention that "The Black Album" gets an honorable mention since it has some face melting solos, and killer riffs dude. But I mean come on.....what the fuck happened.

Everything else after that doesn't exist.

it's not too bad?

start of Shortest Straw = \m/

the band purposely turned down the bass for reasons unknown; people reckon only cause they were hazing Jason; band reckons because his bass playing was too in time with James' riffs??

Awhile back I read an interview with Lars talking about how they intentionally turned the bass way down in the mix out of spite for Jason. Idiots. That still doesn't explain the clicking snares, though.
