I've got a wicked quote by Mike D in a beastie book i got off ebay called "rhyming and stealing: a history of the Beastie Boys". He said it to Dirt magazine:
"The only thing between you and other people's money is the other people. I made that one up. It basically means there are ways to get cash if you can provide what the other people need. In essence, theres a certain amount of money in the world, and part of it is yours. How much you fell comfortable claiming and how you gain access to this currency is your problem. Money is a frame of mind, and work is selling your time to someone else. How much your time is worth depends on what you know, and anything beyond the bare essentials to garner minimum is a case scenario known as the skills to pay the bills."
I thought it was kind of profound

I read that negotiations are on for 24, The Movie. It will pick up wherever Season 6 leaves off. The plot will be separate (but somewhat related) from the plots of the previous seasons, probably so that first-time viewers won't hate it as much as first-time viewers hated the X-Files movie.

why does Jack Bauer's cell phone battery never run out?I worked for 3 weeks with someone 24/7 last year and his cell phone battery never ran out and we used it a lot. Jack's lasts 24 hours--that seems kind of realistic.
But I might not be the best judge of what's realistic/average when it comes to cell phones--my own cell looks like a WWII-era field phone.
About two hours.

shouldn't it be called "2", then?

shouldn't it be called "2", then?I know--I talked about this with a friend who said that they would NEVER make a movie because of that. :D
I think they're approaching it the way they're solving the Leo appearing in that fast-forward sequence at the beginning of this season of the West Wing: they're maybe just ignoring it outright. ?

and why has he been in a situation that always is going to be dealt with/have a deadling/etc in 24 hours? For a total of 6 times?

i don't watch the show too much, but does he ever drink any coffee or splash cold water on his face or anything? at the end of 24 hours of doing what he does, i'd be in much worse shape than he appears to be.

I think one or two times, he maybe showed traces of stubble. :D

NOOOO!
I love the show but Jack doesn't even go to the bathroom.

yeah, i noticed it at the end of the last season, his voice was a little rougher. but seriously, he should have been in MUCH worse shape, surely. when i pull an all-nighter, my eyes get red, i get dark circles around them, and i get all fuzzy, and i can't focus on things. and for me, an all nighter is waking up at noon the day before and drinking a bunch of caffeine and studying until the next morning. in the last season, if i'm not mistaken, the show started with jack showing up to work at an oil field at 6 AM, well rested. who knows how long the poor guy was awake, fighting terror every second of his day.
they should make kiefer sutherland stay up for however long jack is supposed to have been awake before the tapings of every episode. i like the show as is, but i think that would make it even more interesting to watch.

I like to watch it for Chloe's facial expressions (http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/7/7a/350px-Tv_24_chloe.jpg).

Those of you in low pressure jobs just can't comprehend the reality of this series.
Like landing a plane in 1/2 the amount of runway space needed, then escaping before the authorities can aprehend you -- could happen, if you didn't get knocked out unconscious.

Fuck! She looks like a muppet.I saw a photo of her when she was relaxed and smiling and I didn't recognize her straight off. She only looked very vaguely familiar. When she's on 24, I think she maybe plays up the expressions--she mostly looks a lot constipated when someone asks her to do some complex-sounding computeresque something. Her role in some movie recently (with Harrison Ford) had her playing pretty much the same role although in that movie, she didn't seem to be as constipated.
i only know her from mr. show, i think of her more as a comedy actress than a serious one. she seems kind of...out of place on 24. i dunno though, i guess it works. she was no more of a fish out of water than edgar was. god i loved that guy

Quote of the week nomination:
Anthony Lane, reviewing Pirates 2:

Newt Gingrich on yesterday's Meet the Press: "We are in the early stages of what I would describe as the third world war." [...]
After further discussion, the host (Tim Russert) clarifies by asking Gingrich: "This is World War III?”
Gingrich: "I believe if you take all the countries I just listed and that you’ve been covering, put them on a map, and look at all the different connectivity, you’d have to say to yourself this is, in fact, World War III."
